Eric Bischoff says Dax Harwood failed in WWE
During his podcast, former WCW President Eric Bischoff discussed his online beef with FTR’s Dax Harwood. Bischoff said the following in regards to FTR as a tag team…
“By what metric they are one of the best tag teams in the world? Certainly not financially. Can’t point to FTR and say, ‘Yeah, but every time they’re on television, look at the success they have in ratings. Look at their quarter hours, look at their look at how much money they draw on the road.’ Of course, they’re not on the road because AEW can barely get enough people to produce a television show, much less go to a house show. So, there’s no metric other than emotion, which is all subjective, it’s not objective, whereby anybody can state that FTR is one of the best tag teams in the world.”
“If you like them, great. I like them as a tag team, as I just said a few moments ago. But to suggest that one of the best tag teams in the world is kind of like a branding statement that we just all latch onto and continue. But it’s not really true. They didn’t make it in WWE. They had an opportunity, just like I had an opportunity in 2019, I didn’t make it. I got fired. I didn’t adapt, I didn’t get myself over. Just like FTR, they had their opportunity. They couldn’t get over. A lot of other people did, and they didn’t. There are a lot of reasons for that, but the fact is, they didn’t get over. And now they’re in AEW and yes, they’re swimming in a much, much, much, much smaller pond. So in their minds, perhaps they feel like a bigger fish. And I’m not saying — I’m not sure. I haven’t — I haven’t had any interactions with Mr. Wheeler. He hasn’t taken to Twitter to call me out. So, I’m gonna leave him out of the equation. But yeah, Dax, you’ve had your opportunity in WWE, you failed. You didn’t get over it. Well, it is what it is. I know it hurts, it doesn’t sound nice. It’s so cruel. But it’s also true. And now he’s an AEW, he feels like a bigger fish in a much, much smaller pond where really hardly anybody’s over. And I’m not suggesting it’s all his fault. But it is what it is.”

Well, if you need any more proof of out of touch Bischoff is, you have it now.
But hey, on the bright side, Dax never drove a promotion to financial ruin.
They’re a decent tag team. They’re not bad, but they’re not great either. They sort of remind me of Arn and Tully in that they have a similar look but the difference is that Arn and Tully were great, FTR isn’t.
@Joseph
The difference is that Arn and Tully had the Midnight Express, the Rock and Roll Express, the Road Warriors, the Rockers, the Hart Foundation, Demolition, and a few other great teams to work with and were booked by people who actually knew what tag team wrestling (and wrestling in general) is all about. FTR works with the Bucks and flavors of the month and is booked by Tony Khan, who’s becoming synonymous with wrestling idiocy. The only person who knew what to do with them was HHH back in NXT. And you could easily make the argument that they were great back then.
@Luke – It’s true that Arn and Tully had better tag teams to work with but in my opinion, you could replace Arn and Tully with FTR and FTR still wouldn’t stand up. I see AEW promoting them as one of the best tag teams. I see people claiming them to be one of the best tag teams and I honestly don’t get it. They’re not bad, but I don’t really see anything special about them. Even when they were in NXT.
@Joseph
Right now I agree, Tony ‘n the gang have done what they can to devalue them to a historic low, but did you see their matches with Gable and Jordan? By the way, genuinely curious, what current tag teams would you rank above FTR?
What is Dax short for?
@Luke – I saw that match and I think Gable and Jordan were a better tag team than FTR. I think DIY is a better tag team than FTR. The Young Bucks are a better tag team than FTR and no, I’m not a fan of the Young Bucks. The Gunns are a better tag team than FTR. I went and watched a few of their matches and in my opinion the only thing that makes them even remotely good is the fact that they worked with better tag teams.
@Joseph
We’re not gonna find common ground. I don’t consider the Young Bucks wrestlers, let alone a credible tag team. I see them as the epitome of everything that’s wrong with wrestling today. I can understand the others, but not that.
@Luke – I won’t say they’re not wrestlers because even though I don’t like them and just about everything about them is stolen from teams in the past, they do a lot of the same crap other wrestlers do. So that’s why I included them.
