News on Alexia Bliss and Bill Goldberg
– Appearing as a guest on MackMania, Alexa Bliss talked about her various character changes over her past career and how she has a new planned character she would like to debut on television (via Fightful). You can read a highlight and listen to the full podcast below.
On what her character portrayal has been and what she’d like to see in the future: “There is a version of me that I am dying to get to. It just hasn’t gotten there yet. I saw the collage — I try to stay off Twitter unless I’m complaining about something — I saw this collage of all these different characters I’ve been in WWE and I was like, ‘Man, I’ve been liked nine different people.’ If you look at it, from my start to now, there have been nine different variations of how I look, how I act, how I speak. Right now, it’s just me. There has been something that I’ve been working on for quite a while that I really want to get out there, it’s just finding the right time, what the roster needs right now. It’s all about timing. For right now, it’s kind of just me, doing my thing with Asuka, which is a lot of fun. like I always say, Lexi is not for TV. I’m boring as a person. I feel, on TV right now I’m boring, so I’m trying to regroup and reorganize things and get to where I want to be character-wise, for sure.”
– When WWE signed Goldberg in 2003, there was a tide of fan-favorite match options for the WCW Champion with his new company, but he never faced Steve Austin, despite the popularity of both performers. Speaking on Talk is Jericho, Goldberg commented on the potential of the never-seen encounter (via Wrestling Inc). You can listen to the complete episode and read a highlight below.
On the idea of a Goldberg/Austin match at the time: “There’s no question that I wish it would’ve happened. That was the match to have. Why it never happened, I think 90% of the reasoning behind that was [Austin’s] neck issues and my finishing moves, right? Whether it be the spear, whether it be the Jackhammer, I don’t think that those are moves that he would’ve wanted to, wanted to do, nor would his boss would’ve wanted him to do. I think it was a safety issue more so than anything.”
