6/25/19 WWE 205 Live Recap: Gallagher/Kanellis; Carrillo in Action; Nese/Tozawa Main Event

The show opens with a video recap of the Triple Threat Match from Stomping Ground between Tony Nese, Akira Tozawa, and Drew Gulak, which Gulak won to become the new WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Gulak cuts a promo and says he gave up on building a better 205 Live so he could focus on building a better Drew Gulak. He says this place deserves his wrath and now everyone can call him champion. He says let Tozawa and Nese fight tonight, and he will put down the winner at Extreme Rules.

The opening credits roll. Aiden English, Nigel McGuinness, and Vic Joseph are on commentary.

Match #1 – Singles Match: Jack Gallagher vs. Mike Kanellis (w/Maria Kanellis)
They lock up and Kanellis takes Gallagher to the mat. Gallagher bicycle kicks Kanellis in the face to escape. Gallagher trips up Kanellis and goes for the cover, but Kanellis kicks out at two. Gallagher applies a side headlock, but Kanellis sends him into the corner. Gallagher delivers a dropkick that sends Kanellis to the floor and then follows him out. Maria gets involved and Kanellis drops Gallagher with a suplex on the floor. Gallagher gets back into the ring at the eight count, but Kanellis stomps down on him. Kanellis delivers a series of right hands and then chokes him over the rope. Kanellis slams Gallagher to the match and goes for the cover, but Gallagher kicks out at two. Kanellis slams Gallagher into the corner and then sets him up top. Kanellis climbs, but Gallagher fights him off. Gallagher comes off the top, but Kanellis gets his boots up.
Kanellis slams Gallagher to the mat and goes for the cover, but Gallagher kicks out at two. They exchange shots and Kanellis delivers a superkick. Kanellis rolls up Gallagher with a handful of tights, but the referee sees it and stops the count. Kanellis gets in his face and Gallagher delivers a headbutt and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Jack Gallagher
-After the match, Mike storms off through the crowd saying, “I’m done” as Maria walks backstage.

Tony Nese is backstage. He says he is not going to make excuses and he worked so hard to become the Cruiserweight Champion. He says he finally gets the one-on-one match he wanted against Akira Tozawa, but he will beat Tozawa just like Gulak did to win the title. Nese says he will go on to Extreme Rules and take the title back.

Tozawa is also backstage. He says he let the title slip through his hands on Sunday, but he won’t let it happen again.

Drake Maverick is backstage, on the phone with Mike Kanellis. Maverick says this is completely unacceptable and unprofessional and hangs up.

Match #2 – Singles Match: Humberto Carrillo vs. Rob Rollenbeck
Carrillo applies a wrist-lock, but Rollenbeck turns it into one of his own. Carrillo counters back and delivers an enzuiguri. Carrillo takes Rollenbeck down with an arm-drag and then delivers a dropkick. Carrillo goes for the cover, but Rollenbeck kicks out at two. Rollenbeck comes back with right hands, but Carrillo drops him with a springboard back elbow. Carrillo delivers a springboard headbutt and goes for the cover, but Rollenbeck kicks out at two. Carrillo delivers a slap and then a missile dropkick. Carrillo delivers the corkscrew plancha and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Humberto Carrillo

Footage from last week’s match between Ariya Daivari and Oney Lorcan is shown. Lorcan won by disqualification after Daivari used a chair. Then, the aftermath of Daivari continuing the beat down is shown. Daivari is then backstage for an interview. Daivari says Lorcan put six stitches in his skull and cost him his shot at the Cruiserweight title. Daivari says Lorcan isn’t tough, but he is. Lorcan attacks him from behind and beats him down.

The Lucha House Party cuts a promo. They talk about The Singh Brothers and Lince Dorado says they have a rematch against The Singhs and it will be a Tornado Tag Team Match next week.

Match #3 – #1 Contender’s (WWE Cruiserweight Championship) Match: Tony Nese vs. Akira Tozawa
Tozawa applies a wrist-lock, but Nese backs him into the corner. Nese delivers an elbow shot and then kicks Tozawa in the midsection. Nese goes for the cover, but Tozawa kicks out. Nese goes for a suplex, but Tozawa lands on his feet and sends Nese to the floor with a hurricanrana. Tozawa comes off the apron and takes Nese out with a senton. Tozawa tosses Nese back into the ring and climbs up top. Nese cuts him off and takes him down to the mat. Nese goes for the cover, but Tozawa kicks out at two. Nese drops Tozawa with an elbow shot and then applies a body scissors submission. Tozawa fights out, but Nese delivers elbow shots to keep advantage. Nese applies a waist-lock, but Tozawa elbows his way free. Nese delivers a knee strike and runs the ropes, but Tozawa kicks him in the face. Tozawa slams Nese to the mat and then delivers a baseball slide dropkick.
Tozawa takes Nese out with a suicide dive that sends Nese over the announce table. Tozawa tosses Nese back into the ring and delivers a missile dropkick from the top. Tozawa goes for the cover, but Nese kicks out at two. Tozawa locks in the Iron Octopus, but Nese slams Tozawa to the mat to break the hold. Nese drives his knee into Tozawa’s face and delivers a spinning heel kick. Nese goes for the springboard moonsault, but Tozawa rolls to the outside. Nese takes him out with a suicide dive and tosses him back into the ring. Nese hits the springboard moonsault this time and goes for the cover, but Tozawa kicks out at two. They exchange chops an Tozawa delivers a right hand. Tozawa comes off the ropes, but Nese hits him with a forearm. Nese goes for a pump-handle slam, but Tozawa counters with an enzuiguri. Tozawa goes for the cover, but Nese kicks out at two.
Tozawa goes up top for the senton splash, but Nese cuts him off. Nese goes for a superplex, but Tozawa fights him off. Tozawa goes for a power bomb from the top, but Nese counters. Tozawa drops him with a Destroyer and goes for the cover, but Nese kicks out at two. Tozawa goes up top and goes for the senton splash, but Nese dodges it. They exchange rolls ups for two and then Nese slams Tozawa into the turnbuckles. Nese goes for the cover, but Tozawa gets his foot on the rope at two. Tozawa comes back with a German suplex and goes for the cover, but Nese kicks out at two. Nese delivers a superkick and a German suplex into the corner. Nese goes for the Running Nese, but Tozawa dodges it. Nese comes back and slams Tozawa to the mat and gets the pin fall.
