Road Dogg No Longer SmackDown Co-Lead Writer
PWinsider is reporting that Hall of Famer “Road Dogg” BG James has stepped down as the co-lead writer for WWE SmackDown. James had reportedly grown frustrated with changes made by Vince McMahon, and had his “breaking point” at Tuesday’s Smackdown Live in Brooklyn, New York. The former DX member informed WWE officials of his decision on Wednesday.
James had been a member of the Smackdown creative team since 2012, and was promoted to head writer in 2014. In recent times, James was a co-leading writer with Stephen Guerrieri. James went on the road with the Smackdown crew, while Guerrieri worked from WWE’s headquarters in Stanford, CT.
There’s no word yet on who may be replacing James in the co-lead writer role. And, as of this report, there is no word yet on if James will be transitioning into another role with WWE.
