10/24/18 WWE Mae Young Classic Coverage: Satomura vs. Storm; Ripley vs. Shirai

Tonight’s episode opens with a recap of last week’s quarterfinal episode. The opening credits then roll, and Beth Phoenix, Michael Cole, and Renee Young welcome us to the show.

We take a look at the first two competitors for the evening: Toni Storm and Meiko Satomura.

Match #1 – Mae Young Classic Tournament Semifinal Match: Meiko Satomura vs. Toni Storm
They lock up an Storm applies a wrist-lock. Satomura counters into one of her own, but Storm counters right back. Satomura takes Storm down to the mat and applies a side headlock. Storm counters into a headlock of her own, but Satomura rolls her up for a two count. Satomura turns it into a head scissors hold, but Storm gets out of it and goes back to the side headlock. Satomura turns it into a headlock of her own and then kicks Storm in the chest. Storm comes back with a kick to the midsection and then applies another headlock. Satomura sends Storm off the ropes and both women go for shoulder tackles, but neither woman falls. Storm takes advantage and takes Satomura down with a boot to the face. Storm goes for the cover, but Satomura kicks out at two. Storm delivers a few headbutts and goes for another cover, but Satomura kicks out at two.
Storm delivers a snap suplex and goes for the cover, but Satomura kicks out at two again. Satomura comes back with a kick to Storm’s hamstring and then drops her with a few more kicks. Satomura works over Storm’s legs and wraps her legs up in a submission. Satomura sends Storm to the corner and delivers another series of kicks. Satomura delivers a forearm to Storm’s face, but Storm fights back with right hands. Storm sends Satomura off the ropes, but Satomura counters with a spinning heel kick. Satomura delivers a few uppercuts, but Storm counters with a back slide for a two count. Storm wraps Satomura up and locks in a rear chin-lock/STF combination submission, but Satomura eventually gets to the ropes to break the hold. Storm kicks Satomura to the corner and then delivers a hip attack. Storm connects with a fisherman’s suplex and goes for the cover, but Satomura kicks out at two.
Storm kicks Satomura in the face and sends Satomura to the floor. Storm connects with a suicide dive and both women are down. Storm gets Satomura back into the ring and kicks her in the face. Storm goes for the cover, but Satomura kicks out at two. Storm kicks Satomura in the face a few times, but Satomura fires up and they exchange kicks. Satomura delivers a knee shot and a DDT, and then kicks Storm in the back of the neck. Satomura delivers the Death Valley Driver and goes for the cover, but Storm kicks out at two. Satomura goes for a knee to the face, but Storm counters and delivers a German suplex. Storm grabs Satomura and delivers Storm Zero. Storm goes for the cover, but Satomura kicks out at two. Storm grabs Satomura and goes for Storm Zero again, but Satomura counters with a Pele Kick. Satomura goes for the cover, but Storm kicks out at two. Satomura delivers the Scorpion Kick and goes for the cover, but Storm kicks out again.
Satomura goes for the Death Valley Driver again, but Storm counters and hits Storm Zero and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Toni Storm
-After the match, Kairi Sane gets into the ring and presents Storm with ceremonial roses. Triple H appears on the stage and bows to Satomura and then raises her hand into the air. Storm gets a microphone and says this is what she has been fighting for since she was ten years old and there is still business to finish. Triple H raises Storm’s hand into the air as she gets to the stage.

We take a look at the final two competitors for the evening: Io Shirai and Rhea Ripley.

Match #2 – Mae Young Classic Tournament Semifinal Match: Io Shirai vs. Rhea Ripley
They lock up and Ripley shoves Shirai into the corner. Shirai comes back, but Ripley shves her to the mat. Shirai comes back again and delivers a dropkick, but Ripley comes right back and slams Shirai to the mat. Ripley goes for the cover, but Shirai kicks out at two. Ripley kicks Shirai in the head and then stomps her down on the mat. Ripley applies a modified arm-bar down on the mat and then begins to stomp away on her again. Ripley goes for the cover, but Shirai kicks out at two. Ripley goes back to the modified arm-bar and then presses Shirai into the mat while digging her hands into Shirai’s rib cage. Ripley delivers a right hand to drop Shirai all the way to the mat, and then delivers a series of rapid rights. Ripley applies a body scissors submission now and clubs Shirai in the neck. Ripley keeps Shirai grounded and goes for a few quick covers, but Shirai kicks out each time.
Ripley goes back to the body scissors submission and then grinds Shirai’s face into the mat. Shirai fights back with a long series of elbow strikes that send Ripley to the mat. Ripley comes back with a few kicks and then another shot to Shirai’s back. Ripley sends Shirai off the ropes, but Shirai comes back with a hurricanrana and gets a two count. Shirai sends Ripley to the floor and then takes her out with a suicide dive. Ripley makes it back into the ring first and Shirai enters at the nine count. Ripley beats down Shirai and trash talks, but Shirai slaps her across the face. Ripley drops Shirai with a right hand and goes for a uplex, but Shirai lands on her feet. Shirai sends Ripley into the ropes and connects with the 6-1-9. Shirai goes up top and delivers a missile dropkick and goes for the cover, but Ripley kicks out at two. Shirai sets up for the moonsault, but Ripley cuts her off and delivers a super-plex.
Ripley goes for the cover, but Shirai kicks out at two. Ripley picks Shirai up, but Shirai sends her into the ring post. Shirai delivers double knees in the corner and goes up top. Shirai connects with the moonsault and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Io Shirai
-After the match, Triple H meets Ripley on the stage and raises her hand in the air. Kairi Sane gets into the ring and hands Shirai the ceremonial roses and they share a hug. Triple H also raises Shirai’s hand on the stange as well. Toni Storm comes to the stage and she and Shirai share a hug and then stare each other down as the show comes to a close.
