3/27/18 WWE Mixed Match Challenge Coverage: Balor/Banks vs. Roode/Lynch
Michael Cole welcomes us to the last semi-final match for the Mixed Match Challenge and we see that Becky Lynch won the fan vote to replace Charlotte Flair as Bobby Roode’s partner for tonight.
Mixed Match Challenge Tournament Semi-Final Match: Bobby Roode and Becky Lynch vs. Finn Balor and Sasha Banks
Balor and Roode start the match and Balor applies a wrist-lock. Balor drops Roode to the mat and keeps the wrist-lock applied. Roode is able to get free and trip up Balor, but both men get back up and have a stalemate. Roode taunts Balor with a “Glorious” and Balor “Too Sweet’s” Roode. Banks and Lynch beg for the tags and they get them. Lynch applies a headlock and then drops Banks with a flapjack. Lynch goes for the cover, but Banks kicks out at two. Banks comes back with a cover of her own, but Lynch quickly kicks out. Banks sends Lynch to the corner, but Lynch comes back with arm drags. Banks gets to her feet and they get face to face and then throw up the Four Horsewomen sign. Lynch mocks Banks and then they shove each other.
Banks takes Lynch down with a Thesz Press and delivers right hands. Balor tags in and Roode enters as well. Balor drops Roode with a few arm drags and then applies an arm bar. Roode backs Balor into the corner and then kicks him in the midsection. Roode goes for the Glorious DDT, but Balor rolls through and delivers a dropkick. Balor goes for the cover, but Roode kicks out at two. Rode comes back and knees Balor in the midsection and goes for the cover, but Balor kicks out at two. Roode drives his knee into Balor’s back and then suplexes him down to the mat. Roode goes for the cover, but Balor kicks out again. Balor fights back with forearm shots, but Roode keeps control. Roode sends Balor off the ropes and kicks him in the face, but Balor comes back with a kick of his own and both men are down.
Banks and Lynch tag back in and Banks drops Lynch with a few clotheslines. Lynch comes back with an uppercut and sends Banks to the corner. Banks comes back with the Meteora double knees, but Lynch fights back with forearm shots. Lynch sends Banks to the corner and delivers the Beck-sploder suplex. Lynch goes up top and delivers a dropkick and goes for the cover, but Banks kicks out at two. Banks comes back with a roll-up, but Lynch kicks out at two. Banks charges into the corner, but Lynch moves and kicks Banks in the face. banks comes back with a knee to the face and goes up top, but Lynch cuts her off. Lynch delivers a superplex from the top and both women are down.
Balor and Roode tag back in and Balor drops Roode and delivers a double stomp. Balor chops Roode in the corner and then delivers an enzuiguri. Balor drops Roode with an elbow and goes for the cover, but Lynch breaks up the cover. Balor goes for the slingblade, but Roode counters and drops Balor with a blockbuster. Roode goes for the cover, but Balor kicks out at two. Roode goes for the Glorious DDT, but Balor rolls through and delivers the slingblade. Balor dropkicks Roode into the corner and then tags in Banks. Banks drops Lynch witht he Meteora from the top and then dropkicks Roode to the floor. Banks takes Roode out with a suicide dive on the outside. Banks rolls back into the ring, but Lynch catches her with a roll up and gets the pin fall.
Winners: Becky Lynch and Bobby Roode.
After the match, Kurt Angle’s music hits and he comes to the stage. He reminds us that the winners next week will win $100,000 for their charity. Next week, Charlotte Flair will return and team with Bobby Roode to take on The Miz and Asuka in the Finals of the Mixed Match Challenge Tournament.
