WWE Mae Young Classic Tournament Coverage – Episode 6
Episode 6 opens with a recap of the four women who won on Episode 5 and then focuses on tonight’s matches, which will close out the Second Round. We go into the arena where Jim Ross and Lita welcome us to the show. We take a look at the first two competitors, Lacey Evans and Toni Storm.
Match #1: Tournament Second Round Match – Lacey Evans vs. Toni Storm
Evans applies a wrist-lock and takes Storm down to the mat, but Storm turns it into a side headlock take down. Evans counters with a head scissors, but Storm gets free. Evans comes right back with a headlock. Storm sends her off the ropes, but Evans connects with a shoulder tackle. Storm comes back with a kick to the chest and then starts with the hip attacks. Evans reverses the last one with a roll-up, but Storm kicks out at two. Evans drops Storm with a right hand and goes for another cover, but Storm kicks out at two again. Evans sends Storm to the corner and charges, but Storm elevates her to the apron. Evans slams Storm into the turnbuckle and takes her down with a leg sweep. Evans delivers an elbow from over the top rope and goes for the cover, but Storm kicks out at two.
Evans delivers a few knee shots to the ribs and goes for the cover again, but Storm kicks out once again. Evans slams Storm into the corner and then applies a submission using the ropes. Evans delivers a right hand to the midsection and then drops Storm and delivers a big right hand. Evans goes for the cover, but Storm kicks out at two. Evans applies a neck-wrench submission down on the mat, but Storm counters with a knee strike. Storm sends Evans to the corner and charges and then delivers a back-stabber. Storm delivers the hip attack in the corner and then suplexes her down to the mat. Storm picks Evans up, but Evans counters and goes for the Lady Lace Up, but Storm counters with a roll up and Evans kicks out at two. Storm comes back with a face-buster with her knees and then delivers the Strong Zero and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Toni Storm.
We take a look at the next two competitors, Mia Yim and Shayna Baszler.
Match #2: Tournament Second Round Match – Mia Yim vs. Shayna Baszler
They exchange quick kicks and Baszler gets the upper hand. Baszler connects with more kicks down on the mat, but Yim gets a roll-up for a two count. Yim comes off the ropes and sends Baszler to the outside with a head scissors take down. Yim comes through the ropes and takes Baszler down with a suicide dive. Yim rolls Baszler back into the ring and goes for the cover, but Baszler kicks out at two. Baszler comes back and takes Yim down and applies a modified ankle lock submission. Baszler picks Yim up and suplexes her to the ring a couple times. Baszler goes for the cover, but Yim kicks out at two. Baszler takes Yim to the corner, but Yim counters and applies the tarantula submission in the ropes.
Yim comes off the ropes and rolls Baszler up, but Baszler counters into an ankle lock again. Yim gets to the ropes to break the hold and then connects with a series of kicks and palm strikes. Yim takes Baszler down and goes for the cover, but Baszler kicks out at two. Yim charges from the ropes, but Baszler catches her with a knee strike. Baszler goes for the cover, but Yim kicks out at two. Yim comes back with a bridging German suplex and goes for the cover, but Baszler kicks out at two. Baszler comes right back and applies the ankle lock submossion again. Yim rolls over and kicks her way free, but Baszler keeps on the attack with kicks of her own. Yim grabs Baszler’s leg and then picks her up and delivers a power bomb. Yim goes for the cover, but Baszler kicks out at two.
Yim goes up top and goes for a 450 splash, but Baszler counters and locks in a rear naked choke and Yim taps out.
Winner: Shayna Baszler.
After the match, Baszler celebrates with her follow Four Horsewomen of MMA and then stares down down with the Four Horsewomen of WWE (minus Sasha Banks).
We take a look at the next two competitors, Rhea Ripley and Dakota Kai.
Match #3: Tournament Second Round Match – Dakota Kai vs. Rhea Ripley
They lock up and Ripley applies a wrist-lock. She takes Kai down to the mat, but Kai kicks up and applies a wrist-lock of her own. Ripley turns it into a waist-lock, but Kai drops her with an arm-drag take down. Kai drops Ripley with a snapmare and then kicks her in the back. Kai delivers a running kick and goes for the cover, but Ripley kicks out at two. Ripley comes back and sends Kai into the ropes and charges, but Kai sends her out to the floor. Kai dives onto Ripley, but Ripley catches her and slams her face first into the ring apron. Ripley tosses Kai back into the ring and goes for the cover, but Kai kicks out at two. Ripley apples a side headlock and then takes Kai down to the mat and kicks her in the back. Ripley delivers a diving cross-body and goes for the cover, but Kai kicks out at two.
Ripley sends Kai to the corner, but Kai goes over the top of Ripley and rolls her up for a two count. Kai charges at Ripley, but Ripley launches her into the air and down to the mat. Ripley goes for the cover, but Kai kicks out at two. Ripley grabs Kai and goes for a Full Nelson slam, but Kai kicks her in the side of the head to counter. They exchange kicks and then Kai catches Ripley with a big kick to the side of the head. Kai delivers a few dropkicks and then a running kick in the corner. Kai goes for the cover, but Ripley kicks out at two. Ripley comes back with a kick to the face and then delivers a Northern Lights suplex for a two count. Ripley stomps on Kai in the corner and then sets her on the top rope. Ripley delivers a few right hands and climbs as well.
Ripley keeps the attack going, but Kai fights back. They exchange right hands on the top rope and Kai hangs Ripley in the tree of woe. Kai connects with the double stomp and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Dakota Kai.
We take a look at the next two competitors, Candice LeRae and Nicole Savoy.
Match #4: Tournament Second Round Match – Candice LeRae vs. Nicole Savoy
They lock up an Savoy drops LeRae with an arm drag take down. LeRae comes back with a slam out of the corner and goes for the cover, but Savoy kicks out at two. Savoy comes back and suplexes LeRae right on her neck and goes for the cover, but LeRae kicks out at two. Savoy delivers another suplex and then applies a modified surfboard submission down on the mat. LeRae turns it into her own submission and then gets a quick pin fall attempt for a two count. LeRae delivers a few elbow shots and then delivers a modified Codebreaker. LeRae charges in the corner, but Savoy moves. Savoy charges this time, but LeRae gets her boot up. LeRae climbs the ropes, but Savoy pulls her down to the mat. Savoy goes for the cover, but LeRae kicks out at two.
Savoy delivers a couple suplexes and goes for a cross arm-breaker, but LeRae blocks it and kicks Savoy in the face. LeRae comes off the ropes, but Savoy catches her and delivers a suplex for a two count. Savoy goes for a face-buster, but LeRae slips free and delivers a Pele kick. LeRae grabs Savoy and applies a submission, but Savoy counters and slams LeRae in the corner. Savoy beats down LeRae in the corner and then delivers a forearm shot. Savoy puts LeRae on the top rope and delivers a few more forearms. Savoy climbs as well and goes for a suplex, but LeRae blocks it. LeRae fights out and and delivers Miss LeRae’s Wild Ride and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Candice LeRae.
