6/14/17 NXT Recap: McIntyre, AOP, Velveteen Dream in Action; Asuka/Nikki/Ruby Main Event

NXT opens with hype for tonight’s Triple Threat Elimination Match between Asuka, Nikki Cross, and Ruby Riot, in which Asuka will put her NXT Women’s Championship on the line. We then see the NXT opening video and then go into the NXT Arena at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida where Tom Phillips, Percy Watson, and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to the show.

Match #1: Drew McIntyre vs. Rob Ryzin
They lock up and Ryzin applies a wrist lock, but McIntyre gets free and back body drops Ryzin to the mat. Ryzin goes for a waist lock, but McIntyre gets free again. Ryzin slaps McIntyre on the back, but McIntyre turns around and drops him with a boot to the face. McIntyre takes Ryzin to the corner and delivers a few chops and then a belly-to-belly suplex. McIntyre goes after Ryzin, but Ryzin kicks his leg out from under him. Ryzin goes for a cover, but McIntyre kicks out at one. McIntyre comes back and tosses Ryzin across the ring and then clotheslines him in the corner. McIntyre goes up top and clubs Ryzin down to the mat with a forearm. Ryzin slaps McIntyre across the face, but McIntyre tosses him into the corner and beats him down. McIntyre places Ryzin on the top rope and then elbows him down to the floor. McIntyre tosses Ryzin back into the ring and then connects with the Claymore Kick and gets the pin fall
Winner: Drew McIntyre.

We see two weeks ago when Ember Moon was cleared to compete and informed Billie Kay and Peyton Royce of the news. We see that Moon and Royce will go one-on-one next week and are reminded of tonight’s main event: a Triple Threat Elimination Match for the NXT Women’s Championship between Asuka, Nikki Cross, and Ruby Riot.

We see a vignette for Aleister Black.

Match #2: The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar) (w/Paul Ellering) vs. Two Local Competitors
Akam drops one of the guys with a boot and backs the other guy into the corner. Akam stomps the guy into the mat and then kicks the other guy in the head. Rezar is on the floor talking to Ellering and Akam tosses one of the guys onto the entrance ramp. Akam picks the other guy up and slams him down to the mat and gets the pin fall.
Winners: The Authors of Pain.
After the match, Rezar grabs the guy on the floor and he and Akam hit the Super Collider on the guys. Ellering grabs a mic and says Heavy Machinery is as foolish as they are large. He says they have been here one year and are still undefeated. He says they beat American Alpha, TM-61, The Revival, and #DIY. He says the Authors want to right the first chapter in the Book of Dominance and Heavy Machinery won’t even make a foot note. He says Heavy Machinery don’t match up with the Authors. Heavy Machinery’s music hits and Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic come to the ring. They four men stare down and get nose-to-nose before Ellering pulls the Authors back. Ellering gets the Authors out of the ring and they back up the ramp as Heavy Machinery continues to stare them down.

We see footage from Roderick Strong’s address to the NXT Universe last week, which was interrupted by the NXT Champion Bobby Roode. We then see a tweet from Strong calling Roode privileged and entitled.

We are reminded of tonight’s main event between Asuka, Nikki Cross, and Ruby Riot and see that the Velveteen Dream is in action next.

We see a hype vignette for Sonya Deville. She will arrive to NXT next week.

Match #3: Raul Mendoza vs. The Velveteen Dream
Dream takes Mendoza down and walks on his back. Dream applies a headlock, but Mendoza counters and gets a quick rolls up. Dream kicks out, but Mendoza takes him down with a dropkick. Mendoza comes off the ropes, but Dream takes him down with a kick. Dream delivers a European uppercut and slaps him across the chest. Dream stomps him down in the corner and then slams him down in the middle of the ring. Dream slams Mendoza across the face and then slaps him across the back. Dream drops a forearm across Mendoza’s neck and then smacks him with his bandanna. Mendoza comes back with a few chops and comes off the ropes, but Dream drops him with a gut-buster. Dream picks Mendoza up and cartwheel death valley drives him into the mat. Dream goes up top and connects with the elbow drop and gets the pin fall.
Winner: The Velveteen Dream.

We see footage from last week’s match between Hideo Itami and Oney Lorcan, in which Itami hit Lorcan with four Go To Sleeps before Kassius Ohno ran to the ring to stop him. We see Kayla Braxton backstage with Kassius Ohno. Ohno says he doesn’t know where his friendship with Itami stands. He says he sunk to Itami’s level and he shouldn’t have. Ohno says Itami is sulking and needs to get over it. Ohno says he has a match against Aleister Black next week.

We see a video hype package for Ember Moon.

Match #4: NXT Women’s Championship Triple Threat Elimination Match: Asuka (c) vs. Nikki Cross vs. Ruby Riot
Asuka takes Riot down and goes after Cross and backs Cross into the corner. Riot takes Asuka down with a dropkick, Cross takes Riot down with a dropkick, and Asuka takes Cross down with a dropkick from the top rope. Riot and Cross comes back and work together to send Asuka to the outside. Riot gets a roll up on Cross, but Cross quickly kicks out. Cross takes Riot down and slams her head into the mat a few times. Riot comes back with a clothesline and a dropkick and then knocks Asuka back to the floor. Riot drives Cross into the turnbuckle and then delivers a kick to the head and Cross rolls to the floor as we head to a break.
We’re back and Asuka and Riot are going at it in the ring. Riot delivers a few elbows as Asuka applies a waist lock. Asuka goes for a quick cover, but Riot kicks out at two. Asuka delivers the Hip Attack to Riot and sends her to the corner. Asuka charges, but Riot counters with a boot and then takes Asuka down with a hurricanrana. Cross gets back into the ring and jumps on Riot’s back. Riot counters and slams Cross down to the mat. Riot goes for the cover, but Asuka tries to break it up. Riot stops her and delivers chops against the ropes. Riot comes off the ropes, but Asuka counters with a knee to the face. Asuka goes for the cover, but Riot kicks out at two. Asuka runs the ropes, but Cross pulls her out of the ring and they brawl on the floor. Riot delivers a double dropkick to both of them and all three are down on the floor. Riot and Cross get back into the ring and Riot dropkicks Cross into the corner. Riot goes up top, but Asuka shoves her off. Asuka goes up top and goes for a dropkick, but Cross moves. Cross takes Asuka down with a spinning neck-breaker, but Asuka rolls out of the ring. Riot grabs Cross and delivers a back drop driver and both of them are down in the ring. Riot drops Asuka with a kick and Cross delivers the spinning neck-breaker to Riot from the middle rope and gets the pin fall as we head to a break.
Ruby Riot has been eliminated.
We’re back and Cross pie faces Asuka a few times and they get nose-to-nose. They exchange right hands and Asuka then connects with a few spinning back fists. Asuka grabs Cross and delivers a German suplex. Asuka goes for the cover, but Cross kicks out at two. Asuka kicks Cross across against the ropes, but Cross comes back with a rake to the eyes. Cross puts Asuka on the apron, but Asuka comes back and kicks Cross in the chest and then the side of the head. Cross falls to the floor and Asuka takes her down with a Hip Attack from the apron. Asuka delivers headbutts on the outside and tosses Cross into the barricade. Cross fights back and shoves Asuka into the barricade. Asuka tackles Cross on the stage and they brawl into the open space by the stage. Asuka slams Cross into the barricade and they fight backstage and the referee calls for the bell.
Match Result: No Contest
We go backstage and see Asuka and Cross still brawling. Asuka slams Cross into a metal door and then put her boot in Cross’ throat. Cross comes back and slams Asuka into another door, but Asuka comes back and slams Cross into the door repeatedly. Asuka slams Cross into some coolers backstage. Cross comes back and dunks Asuka’s head into the cooler and then they brawl back into the arena. Cross slams Asuka into the announce table, but Asuka comes back and does the same to Cross. Asuka and Cross pull each other’s hair on the floor and Asuka picks Cross up and they go to the tech area. They brawl in between the tech equipment and Cross tosses Asuka onto the tech stage. They fight on the tech stage and then crash through a table. NXT comes to a close with all the referees checking on Asuka and Cross.
