3/22/17 NXT Recap: Almas vs. Lorcan, Asuka in Action; SAnitY vs. Jose/Strong/Dillinger Main Event

NXT opens with a preview of tonight’s show, which will feature a Six-Man Tag Team Match with SAnitY battling Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, and No Way Jose. We then see the usual NXT opening video and then we go into the CFE Arena at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where Tom Phillips, Percy Watson, and Nigel McGuiness welcome us to the show. McGuiness reminds us that Bobby Roode will defend the NXT Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT TakeOver: Orlando and Phillips reminds us of the six-man tag main event.

Match #1 – Oney Lorcan vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas
Lorcan goes after Almas, but Almas poses down on the mat and then goes to the floor. Lorcan chases Almas around the ring, but Almas gets back into the ring. Lorcan cuts him off and delivers a few chops. Lorcan sends Almas to the corner and then off the ropes and drops him with a big uppercut that sends Almas out to the floor. Lorcan goes after Almas again, but Almas gets back into the ring. Almas goes for an elbow drop, but Lorcan dodges it. Almas comes back and drops Lorcan with a neck-breaker and then stomps away on him in the corner. Almas slaps Lorcan across the face and then poses in the ring again. Almas kicks Lorcan in the face and then delivers a forearm shiver. Almas sends Lorcan to the ropes and charges, but Lorcan counters and sends Almas out to the floor. Lorcan dives for Almas, but Almas counters with a power slam on the floor as we head to a break.
We’re back and Almas is in control or Lorcan in the ring. Almas stomps on Lorcan’s hand and then picks him up. Almas slams Lorcan’s face into the turnbuckle and then chokes him over the middle rope. Almas stomps on Lorcan’s back and then sends him off the ropes. Almas connects with a dropkick and goes for the cover, but Lorcan kicks out at two. Almas applies a rear chin-lock down on the mat. Lorcan fights back, but Almas drives his knee into Lorcan’s midsection. Lorcan comes back and takes Almas down with a forearm clothesline. Lorcan drops Almas with a blockbuster neck-breaker and goes for the cover, but Almas kicks out at two. Lorcan goes for the half-and-half suplex, but Almas grabs the ropes. Lorcan runs the ropes and takes Almas out to the floor with a European uppercut. Lorcan goes up top and dives down onto Almas and both men are down on the floor.
Back in the ring, Lorcan connects with some hip attacks in the corner. Lorcan grabs Almas and connects with the half-and-half suplex and goes for the cover, but Almas kicks out at two. Lorcan goes to set Almas on he top rope, but Almas flips free and puts Lorcan on the top rope. Almas slaps Lorcan across the chest and climbs up top, but Lorcan counters with a headbutt. Lorcan dives, but Almas ducks under and connects with a springboard back kick. Almas backs away and charges, but Lorcan counters with a big boot. Lorcan backs away, but Almas turns him inside out with a big clothesline. Almas goes for the cover, but Lorcan kicks out at two. Almas drives his elbow into Lorcan’s face and then delivers running double knees. Almas drops Lorcan with a hammer-lock DDT and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Andrade “Cien” Almas.

We see #DIY, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, backstage. Ciampa says they’ve traveled the world for twelve years and Gargano says this is all they have ever wanted to do. Ciampa says they took the opportunity in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic for the two of them, even though they had never teamed before. Gargano says The Revival didn’t like them from the beginning. Ciampa says they struggled, but they persevered at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, but they lost it all at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio. Ciampa says #DIY is a state of mind and every single person who has supported them for the last twelve years. Gargano says they are #DIY and they will have their moment.

We see another “Fade to Black” vignette.

We are reminded that Baroness’ “Shock Me” is one of the official theme songs for NXT TakeOver: Orlando and then are reminded that Asuka will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Ember Moon at the event. We take a look back to two weeks ago, where Billie Kay was injured during Ember Moon’s Eclipse.

Match #2 – Asuka vs. Priscilla Sumega
Before the match, Asuka asks for a microphone. She tells Ember Moon this is her fate. She kicks Priscilla in the head repeatedly. Priscilla comes back and slams Asuka across the face. Asuka drops Priscilla with a hip attack and then kicks her in the chest a few times. Asuka drops Priscilla with a German suplex and then delivers a spin kick to the face. Asuka goes for the cover, but Priscilla kicks her up at two. Asuka drives her knees into Prisiclla’s face and then kicks her in the face again. Asuka locks in the Asuka Lock and Priscilla taps out.
Winner: Asuka.
After the match, Asuka cuts a promo in Japanese about Ember Moon. She then says “No Eclipse” and drops the microphone.

We see The Revival, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, backstage. They say it is their destiny to become the greatest tag team of all time, and they will do that at NXT TakeOver: Orlando. We then see that Akam, Johnny Gargano, and Dash Wilder will battle in a Triple Threat Match next week.

We are reminded that “Are You Coming With Me?” by Crown the Empire is one of the official theme songs for NXT TakeOver: Orlando. We then take a special look at the main event for NXT TakeOver: Orlando, which will feature Bobby Roode defending the NXT Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura.

We join No Way Jose, Roderick Strong, and Tye Dillinger backstage. Jose says SAnitY has always done things with the numbers advantage, but Strong says he’s back and they don’t have the advantage anymore. Dillinger says SAnitY will find out why you don’t play the numbers game with a Perfect Ten.

We see the video hype package for Heavy Machinery.

We see an interview with Kassius Ohno last week. He said he didn’t anticipate losing in his first match back, and Elias Samson interrupts with a song. Ohno says Samson needs an ass kicking and Samson says Ohno doesn’t belong in NXT. Ohno challenges Samson to a Loser Leaves NXT Match and Samson agrees.

We are reminded that “Come and Get It” by I Prevail is one of the official theme songs for NXT TakeOver: Orlando.

We learn that Aleister Black will debut at NXT TakeOver: Orlando against Andrade “Cien” Almas. Almas says he is going to make Black believe in Andrade Almas.

Match #3 – Six-Man Tag Team Match: SAnitY (Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe, and Killian Dain) (w/Nikki Cross) vs. No Way Jose, Roderick Strong, and Tye Dillinger
A brawl breaks out from the beginning and Strong tosses Dain into the ring and the bell rings. Dain slams Strong in the corner and Wolfe tags in. Wolfe decks Strong with a right hand and then delivers a few uppercuts. Strong fights back and backs Wolfe into the corner and Dillinger tags in. Dillinger drops a knee on Wolfe and tags in Jose. Jose slams Wolfe down to the mat and goes for the cover, but Wolfe kicks out. Strong tags back in and drives his knee into Wolfe’s midsection. Strong takes Wolfe down with a back-breaker and tags in Dillinger. Dillinger drives a knee into Wolfe’s head and stomps down onto him. Dillinger chops Wolfe and tags in Strong. Strong chops Wolfe, but Wolfe counters with a few uppercuts. Wolfe sends Strong off the ropes, but Strong counters with a dropkick. Strong takes Dain down as will and then launches out onto Wolfe and Young as we head to a break.
We’re back and Jose is in control of Wolfe in the ring. Jose takes Wolfe down with a sidewalk slam and goes for the cover, but Wolfe kicks out at two. Wolfe comes back with a right hand and tags in Young. Young sends Jose to the corner, but Jose comes back with a clothesline and tags in Dillinger. Young runs and tags in Wolfe and Dillinger slams him down to the mat. Dillinger tags Jose in and Jose stomps on Wolfe. Jose kicks Wolfe in the head and delivers a series of right hands in the corner. Jose charges at Wolfe, but Young and Cross get involved and Wolfe knocks Jose down to the floor. Dain tags in and tosses Jose back into the ring. Dain delivers an uppercut to Jose and then stomps away on him in the corner. Dain clubs Jose down to the mat and then drops an elbow. Dain delivers a jumping elbow drop and then Wolfe tags back in. Wolfe and Dain double-team Jose in the corner. Wolfe goes for the cover, but Jose kicks out at two. The match breaks down when all six men begin to brawl in the ring and the referee calls for the bell.
Match Result: No Contest.
After the match, Nikki Cross gets involved as well, but Ruby Riot runs from the back and takes Nikki down as Dillinger tosses Young to the floor and Jose clotheslines Wolfe to the floor. Dillinger, Jose, and Strong triple-team Dain and send him out to the floor. Dillinger, Jose, Strong, and Ruby stand tall in the ring as SAnitY regroups on the floor as NXT comes to a close.
