1993 – On this evening’s episode of ECW Hardcore TV, Kevin Sullivan and The Tazmaniac defeat Tommy Dreamer and Johnny Gunn, to win the ECW World Tag Team Championship.
1998 – In the Monday Night Wars, WWF Raw Is War (5.2 TV rating) beats WCW Monday Nitro (4.2 rating). On RAW, The Corporation (Big Boss Man and Ken Shamrock) defeat The New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg and Bily Gunn), to win the WWF Tag Team Championship.
2003 – WWE Armageddon, a RAW-branded exclusive pay-per-view, is held in Orlando in front of 12,672 fans. Randy Orton defeats Rob Van Dam for the Intercontinental Championship; Mick Foley served as special guest referee. Evolution (Ric Flair & Batista) win a Tag Team Turmoil Match, to become the new World Tag Team Champions. In the main event, Triple H becomes the new World Heavyweight Champion, after defeating Goldberg and Kane in a Triple Threat Match.
2008 – Former WWF jobber Mike Bell dies of a heart attack at age 37. Bell is best remembered for botching a move (snapmare armdrag), in a match against Perry Saturn, that caused Saturn to land head first onto the mat. Feeling Bell had acted unprofessionally, Saturn retaliated in non-kayfabe form, and threw Bell out of the ring. Bell landed head first onto the safety mat outside the ring. Neither competitor was seriously injured and continued the match as planned.
2008 – The final WWE Armageddon pay-per-view is held in Buffalo in front of 12,500 fans. In the main event, Jeff Hardy wins a Triple Threat Match, including Triple H and Edge, to finally win his first WWE Championship.
2009 – The annual WWE “Slammy Awards” are held on this evening’s episode of RAW.
-John Cena won Superstar of the Year via tournament that included Randy Orton, CM Punk, and The Undertaker.
-Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker at WrestleMania XXV won Match of the Year.
-Maria won Diva of the Year.
–Michael Cole vomiting on Chris Jericho on SmackDown’s 10th Anniversary Show won the “Oh My” Moment of the Year.
-Bob Barker won RAW Guest Host of the Year.
-Jeri-Show (Chris Jericho & Big Show) won Tag Team of the Year.
-CM Punk forcing Jeff Hardy to leave WWE after a Steel Cage Match won Shocker of the Year.
-Sheamus won Breakout Star of the Year.
2013 – At Ring of Honor’s Final Battle 2013, Tommaso Ciampa defeats Matt Taven, to win the ROH World Television Championship. In the main event, Adam Cole defeats Michael Elgin and Jay Briscoe, in a Three-Way Match, to retain the ROH World Championship.
2014 – WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, Chairs…and Stairs is held in Cleveland in front of 14,000 fans. “Stairs” was added as Big Show and Erick Rowan faced off in a Steel Stairs Match, which was won by Big Show. John Cena defeats Seth Rollins in a Tables Match; had Rollins won, Cena would lose his #1 contender spot for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Dolph Ziggler defeats Luke Harper, in a Ladder Match, to win the Intercontinental Championship. In the main event, Bray Wyatt defeats Dean Ambrose in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match.
2015 – Mr. McMahon grants Roman Reigns a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, against Sheamus on this evening’s Monday Night Raw; McMahon adds the stipulation that Reigns will be fired if he loses the match. Despite interference from Rusev, Alberto Del Rio, and McMahon, Roman Reigns defies the odds to defeat Sheamus to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Today would’ve been the 39th birthday for Marvin Lambert, known as Brain Damage in Combat Zone Wrestling. He was a 2-time CZW Iron Man Champion and a 2-time CZW Ultraviolent Underground Champion. Lambert died on October 18, 2012 from an apparent suicide. Today would’ve also been the 39th birthday for indy wrestler Will “The Thrill” Jones.
