1987 – Eric Embry defeats Peter Vander Grailing, to become the inaugural WCWA World Light Heavyweight Champion.

1993 – In the United States Wrestling Federation, Tatanka defeats Jerry Lawler, to win the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship.  Also, The Dog Catchers defeat The Moondogs, to win the USWA World Tag Team Championship.  And Tommy Rich defeats Jeff Jarrett, to win the USWA Heavyweight Championship.

1993 – The Quebecers defeat The Steiner Brothers, to win the WWE Tag Team Championship on Monday Night Raw.

1993 – The NWA World Heavyweight Championship used in WCW is vacated, as WCW withdraws from the NWA.  WCW would continue to recognize Ric Flair as their champion, with the WCW International World Heavyweight Championship.

1994 – On Hardcore TV episode 72, Mikey Shipwreck and Cactus Jack defeat The Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and Rocco Rock), to win the ECW World Tag Team Championship.  The match originally took place August 27, 1994.

1998 – Rayo de Jalisco, Jr. defeats Universo 2000, to win the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship.  In Ohio Valley Wrestling, Rip Rogers defeats Doug Basham, to win the OVW Heavyweight Championship.

1998 – WCW Fall Brawl:  War Games is held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina before a crowd of 11,528.

-In a tag team match, The British Bulldog and Jim Neidhart defeat The Dancing Fools (Alex Wright and Disco Inferno).

-Chris Jericho retains the WCW World Television Championship, defeating a Goldberg impersonator.

-Ernest Miller defeats Norman Smiley.

-Rick Steiner fights Scott Steiner to a no-contest.

-Juventud Guerrera retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship, defeating Silver King.

-Saturn defeats Raven in a Raven’s Rules Match.

-Dean Malenko defeats Curt Hennig via disqualification.

-Konnan defeats Scott Hall.

-In the WarGames match, Team WCW is victorious over nWo Hollywood and nWo Wolfpac.  Representing Team WCW was Diamond Dallas Page, Roddy Piper, and The Warrior.  Representing nWo Hollywood was Hollywood Hogan, Bret Hart, and Stevie Ray.  Representing nWo Wolfpac was Kevin Nash, Sting, and Lex Luger.  Since Page got the pinfall victory, he would receive a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, at Halloween Havoc in October.

1999 – In the Monday Night Wars, WWE RAW IS WAR (6.0 TV rating) defeats WCW Monday Nitro (3.3 rating).  On Nitro, Chris Benoit defeats Rick Steiner, to win the WCW World Television Championship.

2001 – WWE Smackdown airs a live 9/11 Tribute Show from Houston.  Smackdown is the first live televised sporting event in the United States, since the terrorist attacks two days earlier.  You can watch / listen to Vince McMahon’s speech and Lilian Garcia singing the National Anthem in the video below.

2002 – The CMLL 69th Anniversary Show is held in Mexico City before a crowd of 17,000.

-Arkangel de la Muerte, Zumbido, and Doctor X defeat Ricky Marvin, Tigre Blanco, and Tony Rivera (Best two-out-of-three falls, six-man “Luche Libre Rules” tag team match).

-Los Infernales (El Satanico, Averno, and Mephisto) defeat Safari, Virus, and Volador Jr (Best two-out-of-three falls, six-man “Luche Libre Rules” tag team match).

-Brazo de Plata, Atlantis, and Rayo de Jalisco, Jr defeat Dr. Wagner Jr. and Los Hermanos Dinamita (Cien Caras and Universo 2000) via disqualification (Best two-out-of-three falls, six-man “Luche Libre Rules” tag team match).

-Pierroth Jr defeats Mascaro Ano 2000 via disqualification (Best two-out-of-three singles match).

-Los Guerreros del Infierno (Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero) defeat Vampiro and Shocker, to retain the CMLL World Tag Team Championship (Best two-out-of-three falls Tag Team Match).

-Tarzan Boy defeats Negro Casas (Best two-out-of-three falls, Lucha de Apuestas, hair vs hair Match).

2003 – In Border City Wrestling, Shane Douglas defeats D’Lo Brown, to win the BCW Can-Am Heavyweight Championship

2005 – Daniel Pruder, best known as the winner of the WWE $1,000,000 Tough Enough Challenge, is released by WWE after only eleven months.

2006 – In Ohio Valley Wrestling, Serena defeats ODB, Beth Phoenix, and Katie Lea, to win the OVW Women’s Championship (Fatal Four-Way Match).

2009 – WWE holds it’s only “Breaking Point” pay-per-view from Montreal, in front of 12,000 fans.  The event had 169,000 PPV buys;  down from the 211,000 buys for “Unforgiven” in September 2008.

-In a dark match, Evan Bourne defeats Chavo Guerrero.

-Chris Jericho and Big Show retain the Unified WWE Tag Team Championships, defeating MVP and Mark Henry.

-Kofi Kingston defeats The Miz, to retain the WWE United States Championship.

-In a Submissions Count Anywhere Match, The Legacy (Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase) defeat D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels).

-Kane defeats The Great Khali in a Singapore Cane Match.

-Christian retains the ECW Championship, defeating William Regal.

-John Cena wins the WWE Championship.  Cena defeats Randy Orton in an “I Quit” Match.

-CM Punk retains the World Heavyweight Championship, defeating the Undertaker.  Undertaker had forced Punk to submit to “Hell’s Gate.”  However, Teddy Long came out and announced that the “Hell’s Gate” move had been banned by Vickie Guerrero;  Long orders the match to be continued.  As soon as the match resumes, Punk puts The Undertaker in the Anaconda Vice.  Referee Scott Armstrong calls for the bell even though Undertaker did not tap out;  thus allowing Punk to retain the title.

2010 – WWE RAW Roulette is held in Cincinnati.  RAW is guest hosted by Chad Ochocinco from the Cincinnati Bengals.

-In a submission match, Daniel Bryan and The Miz fight to a no-contest.  Bryan would turn around and defeat Alex Riley in another submission match.

-Edge defeats Evan Bourne in a Body Slam Match.  Mark Henry then defeats Edge in another Body Slam Match.

-R-Truth and Eve Torres defeat Ted DiBiase and Maryse in a song and dance contest.

-Sheamus defeats John Morrison in a Falls Count Anywhere Match.

-Chris Jericho defeats Tyson Kidd and David Hart Smith in a Handicap Steel Cage Match.

-Goldust defeats William Regal in a “Trading Places Match.”  Each was dressed as their opponent.

-Randy Orton defeats John Cena in a Tables Match.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO:  Six-time TNA Knockouts’ Champion Angelina Love (35 years old today) and former WCW Nitro Girls The Klimaszewski Twins, Diane and Eliane (both 45 years old today).  Also happy birthday to WWE SmackDown Live Superstar Baron Corbin (32 years old today).
