– In his debut match, Whitmer was defeated by The Xtremist
– On September 23, 2000, Future Shock (Whitmer & Logan Caine) defeated HWA Tag Team Champions The GQ Corporation (Bobby Casanova & GQ Masters III) by countout
– In June 2001, Whitmer embarked upon his first tour of Japan, competing for Pro Wrestling NOAH. He would return to Japan for a longer stint in November
– On May 8, 2002, Whitmer defeated Shannon Moore, Jamie Knoble & Matt Stryker in an Elimination Match to win the HWA Cruiserweight Title
– On May 18, 2002, Whitmer defeated Rey Misterio Jr to retain the HWA Cruiserweight Title. Over the next month, he would defend against Shannon Moore, Shark Boy, EZ Money & The Human Time Bomb
