Turning Point
We go into the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida, and we kick things off with footage of Bobby Roode attacking James Storm in a bar. We then transition into the opening video for tonight’s special broadcast of TNA Impact Wrestling: Turning Point. The video focuses on the tournament for the vacant TNA World Heavyweight Championship and the feud between Bully Ray and Mr. Anderson, which will culminate in a match tonight with the stipulation that if Ray wins, Anderson will be gone from TNA, and if Anderson wins, Aces and Eights will disband.
We go into the arena and we see Dixie Carter walking up to Samoa Joe. She says her performance on last week’s show was excellent, but his was not. Dixie says if Joe takes that tone with her again, he will find himself with his buddy A.J. Styles wrestling in third-world countries wrestling for pesos. Dixie says if Joe wins the World Heavyweight Championship, he will never have a unification match with A.J. Styles, because Styles will never be in her company again. Dixie’s music hits and she makes her way to the ring.
Dixie comes to the ring and plugs her interview with Sports Illustrated entitled “Dixie Land.” She says she has to address A.J. Styles. She says Styles is going to have many consequences to deal with, but she is interrupted by James Storm, who will meet Bobby Roode in a Bullrope Match later tonight. Storm says he knows Dixie saw what happened to him in the bar last night. Storm says the rope in his hand is not enough for tonight. He says he wants to use some chairs, tables, and barbed wire against Roode tonight. He says he wants a Florida Death Match tonight. Dixie says she doesn’t care about Storm’s ‘bar room escapades’ and the Wheel of Dixie has been spun and Storm is in the Bullrope Match. Storm says if Dixie doesn’t give him his match, he will call the police and have Roode arrested. Dixie tells him to not take that tone with her and tries to calm the crowd down. Storm says TNA is about giving the people what they want. Dixie says it’s not and she still doesn’t like Storm’s tone. Storm asks Dixie, very politely, to give him his Florida Death Match later tonight and says he will make the cops go away. Dixie says if Storm calls the cops and says nothing is wrong with her show, he has the match. Storm tosses the microphone down and leaves the ring.
Mike Tenay and Taz run down part of the card tonight, which includes a singles contest with Abyss going one-on-one with Joseph Park, and Bully Ray and Mr. Anderson going to battle in a No Disqualification Match.
Match #1: Falls Count Anywhere Match in the First Round of the vacant TNA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament: Magnus vs. Samoa Joe
Joe stays backstage and tells Magnus to come to the back for a fight. Magnus leaves the ring as we head to a commercial break.
We’re back and we see that Joe was tossing Magnus all over the place backstage, but back live Magnus has control out on the stage. Magnus goes for the cover, but Joe kicks out at two. Magnus delivers a high knee to Joe’s face, but Joe comes back with a few right hands. Magnus gains the advantage back and sends Joe down the entrance ramp and near the ring. Joe comes back with right hands, but Magnus tosses him into the ring. Joe goes on the offensive and slams Magnus down to the mat. Joe goes for the cover, but Magnus kicks out at two. Joe waits for Magnus to get to his feet, but Magnus takes Joe down and goes for the cover, but Joe kicks out at two. Magnus suplexes Joe down to the mat and then goes up top. Joe cuts him off and climbs the ropes himself. Joe goes for a suplex, but Magnus catches Joe with an elbow and then kicks him down to the mat. Magnus gets back on the ropes and then delivers an elbow drop from the top rope. Magnus goes for the cover, but Joe kicks out at two. Joe and Magnus fight to the outside and then Magnus backs Joe into the ring apron. Magnus goes under the ring and grabs a steel chair. He sets the chair into the corner between the bottom and middle ropes. Magnus goes to slam Joe into the chair, but Joe locks Magnus into the Coquina Clutch. Joe gets free and sends Joe face-first into the steel chair. Joe falls to the floor and Magnus gets the pin fall to advance in the tournament.
Winner: Magnus.
We are reminded once more of the No Disqualification Match between Bully Ray and Mr. Anderson that is scheduled for later tonight. We see Joseph Park walking backstage. He says he can’t believe he is about to fight his brother. We head to a commercial break.
We’re back, and Bad Influence, Christopher Daniels and Kazarian, are in the ring. Kazarian says in mere moments Joe Park will wrestle his brother Abyss. Kazarian says he and Daniels will be sitting at ringside and gives us permission to worship them now. Park’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring.
Match #2: Abyss vs. Joseph Park.
Abyss doesn’t come to the ring, and Daniels and Kazarian get into the ring. Daniels runs down Park and then says he knows that blood sets Park off. Kazarian dumps a bucket of blood-colored liquid onto Park and Daniels calls Park a failure and a waste of space. Daniels tells Park to get out of his ring. Park goes to leave and Daniels continues to berate him.
Mike Tenay reminds us once more of the No Disqualification Match between Bully Ray and Mr. Anderson as we head to a commercial.
We’re back and the TNA Women’s Knockout Champion, Gail Kim, and Lei’D Tapa come to the ring. Gail Kim issues an Open Challenge. Candance Larea answers.
Match #3: Open Challenge Match: Gail Kim (w/Lei’D Tapa) vs. Candance Larea
Larea comes in firing, but Kim takes control of the match and beats down Larea in the corner. Gail since Larea into the corner, but Larea takes her down with a head-scissors. Larea goes for the cover, but Gail kicks out at two. Larea sends Gail to the corner and charges, but Gail moves and takes control of the match. Gail drops Larea with a huge power bomb and goes for the cover, but Larea kicks out at two. Gail connects with the Eat Defeat and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Gail Kim.
James Storm and Bobby Roode will battle in a Florida Death Match after the commercial break.
We’re back and we see a video package highlighting A.J. Styles’ wrestling in Japan in recent weeks.
Jeremy Borash interviews Mr. Anderson. Anderson says he is going to take everything from Ray tonight and finally end Aces and Eights, which should have been done a long time ago.
We see Gunner walk up to James Storm backstage. Gunner says Storm doesn’t need all of this stuff to face Roode. Storm says he doesn’t need it, but he wants it. Gunner says he always has Storm’s back. We see a video package of the friendship-turned-rivalry of Bobby Roode and James Storm.
Match #4: Florida Death Match in the First Round of the vacant TNA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament: Bobby Roode vs. James Storm
Storm wastes no time and attacks Roode with a Singapore cane on the stage. Storm and Roode battle to ringside and Roose takes advantage of the bout. Roode positions the steps, but Storm counters Roodes attack and sends him flying over the steps and into the barricade. Storm tosses Roode into the ring, and then fills the ring with weapons. Storm grabs a crutch and hits Roode in the midsection with it. Storm sends Roode to the corner and then kicks him in the head. Roode stumbles away and Storm charges, but Roode grabs a cookie sheet and smacks Storm in the head with it and Storm is opened up. Roode grabs the crutch and beats Storm down with it and then chokes him with it. Roode delivers a series of chops and right hands in the corner and then hits him in the midsection with the crutch. Roode goes to toss Storm in the corner, but Storm counters and delivers an uppercut that sends Roode down in the corner. Storm places a trash can in between Roode’s legs and then hits it with the Singapore cane. Storm goes up top and goes for a bulldog on Roode, but Roode fights out of it. Roode gets Storm down on the mat and stomps down on his chest. Roode tries to slingshot Storm into a trash can in the corner, but Storm catches himself and grabs the trashcan. Storm hits Roode in the head with the trashcan a few times. Referee Brian Hebner begins to make the ten count on Roode, but Roode gets to his feet at seven. Storm goes for the Eye of the Storm, but Roode fights out and delivers a Double-R Spinebuster onto a trashcan. Roode and Storm exchange shots with trashcan lids and then they both collapse to the ring. Hebner begins to count both men down. Both men get to their feet, and Storm takes Roode down with the Last Call superkick. Roode rolls to the outside and grabs a beer bottle from under the ring. He smacks Storm in the head with it, and it shatters. Hebner begins to count Storm down. Storm gets to his feet at nine, but Roode quickly takes him down with a huge clothesline. Roode sets up two chairs in the middle of the ring and slams him down through them with a fireman’s carry take down. Hebner begins to count Storm down again. Storm gets up at nine again, and Roode takes him down again. Roode smacks Storm in the back with the crutch and tells him to “just die, you son of a bitch!” Roode goes to the outside and grabs the barbed wire board and gets it into the ring. Gunner runs down to the ring and throws in the white towel and Hebner calls for the bell.
Winner: Bobby Roode.
We’re back and we see Gunner and James Storm arguing about Gunner throwing in the towel for Storm. We see the updated bracket for the Tournament. Magnus will take on Kurt Angle, and Jeff Hardy will take on Bobby Roode.
We get an exclusive look at TNA’s young up-and-comer, Samuel Shaw. It ends with Shaw asking Christy Hemme out on a date, which she accepts.
We’re backstage and we see Ethan Carter III walking into the locker room and talking to Norv Fernum and Dewey Barnes. He says he has beaten them so many times and that they suck. He says his star is continuing to grow and he is facing a returning TNA legend here tonight.
We’re backstage and we see Jeremy Borash standing by for an interview with Bully Ray. Ray says everyone forgot about Anderson before he brought him into Aces and Eights. Ray says everyone will forgot about Anderson again after he piledrives him through the stage and ends his career. Ray assures Anderson that he will take care of his pregnant wife for him and we head to a commercial.
We go backstage and we see Kurt Angle. He says Magnus is one of the best wrestlers in the world. He says Magnus poses a big threat to him, and he is interrupted and is told that Dixie Carter needs to speak with him immediately.
Match #5: Ethan Carter III vs. Shark Boy
Carter drops Shark Boy with a punch, but Shark Boy fights back. Shark Boy lands a series of right hands and Carter ducks to the outside. Shark Boy runs after Carter, and Carter leads him back into the ring. Carter goes for an elbow drop, but Shark Boy moves. Shark Boy connects with an atomic drop and sends him into the corner. Shark Boy delivers a series of right hands and then goes for the Shunner, but Carter counters. Carter drops Shark Boy with the One Percenter and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Ethan Carter III.
We see the video hype package for the feud between Bully Ray and Mr. Anderson. Their No Disqualification Match is next.
We’re back and Dixie Carter is in her office with Kurt Angle and Bobby Roode. She says she knows they don’t like each other, and that’s why next week on a Thanksgiving Edition if Impact Wrestling, Angle and Roode will lead a team of four and will battle in an Eight-Man Elimination Tag Team Match.
Match #6: No Disqualification Match: Bully Ray (w/Brooke) vs. Mr. Anderson – if Ray wins, Anderson will leave TNA; if Anderson wins, Aces and Eights will disband
Before the match begins, the stage fills with TNA wrestlers and agents.
Anderson takes down Ray before the bell rings and finishes his own ring introduction. Anderson low-blows Ray and then drops with his a short-arm clothesline. Ray hides behind Brooke on the outside as Anderson goes after him. Ray shoves Brooke into Anderson and then begins a beat down on Anderson. Ray rakes Anderson’s eyes and then slams his hand into the steel steps. Ray goes under the ring and grabs a table and sets it into the ring as we head to a commercial.
We’re back and Ray and Anderson are battling back in the ring. Ray sends Anderson to the corner and then slams him down to the mat as the table is set up in the corner. Ray has his steel chain in hand and then smacks Anderson on the back with it. Ray goes to drop an elbow with the chain wrapped around it on Anderson, but Anderson moves and Ray hits the mat. Anderson grabs the chain and begins beating Ray down with it. On the outside, Anderson tries to piledrive Ray on the floor, but Knux gets involved, but Anderson slams Knux into the steel steps. Anderson yells at Brooke and she runs away. Anderson exposes the concrete and piledrives Knux onto it. Back in the ring, Anderson takes Ray down with the Plunge. Anderson goes for the Mic Check, but Ray counters and spears Anderson through the table. Ray goes for the cover, but Anderson kicks out at two. Brooke gets the hammer from Taz and she tosses it too high for Ray to catch and Anderson catches it. Anderson hits Ray with it and then delivers the Mic Check and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Mr. Anderson.
After the match, Anderson takes Ray’s vest and Taz says he is not giving his up, but Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe surround him and he throws it at Angle. Anderson celebrates in the ring as Turning Point comes to a close.
