WWF Roster Is Quite Impressive
Former ECW Champion Raven re-debuted in the WWF at the Unforgiven pay-per-view in Philadelphia. The acquisition of Raven, 36, added to the company's phenomenal talent roster. The long-term prognosis for the WWF is excellent, with the company high on several young stars well on their way to the "big league."
The current WWF roster is stacked from top to bottom. The top tier includes "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, and The Undertaker. Other superstars would like to believe they are in this elite group, but when it comes time to pop a huge buy rate, these are the franchise players the company relies heavily on.
With the top money draw of the 90's (Austin, 35) sidelined with a potentially career ending neck injury, the WWF placed The Rock, 28, in Austin's top babyface spot. The Rock took the handoff and ran for an immediate touchdown.
Triple H, 30, came into his own with the push as the company's number one heel. "The Game" is well on his way to earning the wrestler of the year award.
Mark Calaway, known better as The Undertaker, 38, has certainly seen his better days. Even so, Vince McMahon realizes that he still has money drawing power, and protected correctly, could enjoy a prolonged career in the Federation.
The next tier of superstars is filled with talent just waiting for their opportunity to shine. If the business centered entirely on pure wrestling, the "Wolverine" would be on top. Chris Beniot, 33, is without question, the best technical wrestler in North America. He has already earned pay-per-view main events, and seems just a step away from achieving elite company status.
Another hungry Canadian lurking for the top tier is Y2J, Chris Jericho, 29. Jericho has the much-needed charisma and in ring ability to become a top-draw for the promotion.
It is hard to believe the success Pittsburgh native Kurt Angle, 31, has achieved in his first full year in the business. Angle has proved he is dawned for greatness. He is a blue chiper, and is the future of the WWF.
That my friends is true!
Speaking of the future, the WWF have several young hopefuls signed to developmental contracts and are currently paying their dues with the company's affiliates. Brock Lesnar, an amateur-wrestling star from the University of Minnesota has been assigned to Louisville to train with Ohio Valley Wrestling. I know for a fact that the company has high hopes for this amateur sensation.
In Memphis, the WWF has their eyes on the Dupps, a young team you may remember from their brief stint with ECW, and Scott Vick, a former member of Raven's flock in WCW.
