Facts and Opinions Comprise This Week’s Column

Wrestling is a cyclical business, and its possible that WCW could eventually catch the WWF as the number one promotion in North America. Then again, it is also possible that Ralph Nader could be elected the next President of the United States.

Kurt Angle is developing an intriguing wrestling persona. He is well on his way in becoming the WWF’s top heel. Its true, its true.

The atmosphere at a live ECW event is simply electrifying. If you have not seen an ECW show, you don’t know what you are missing.

The WWF has the best stable of tag teams: Hardy’s, Dudley’s, Edge and Christian, Acolytes, Too Cool, etc. I’m relieved Eric Bischoff wasn’t successful in destroying the art of tag team wrestling.

Chyna is popular and a decent worker but shouldn’t possess men’s single titles, especially with the talent depth the WWF currently possesses. Unlike most promotions, the WWF has a woman’s division.

Mick Foley and Ernest “The Cat” Miller both make outstanding commissioners. Just keep Miller away from actually wrestling!

The top play by play man in the business remains good ol’ J.R., Jim Ross. ECW’s Joey Styles is a close second.

Torrie Wilson is the most attractive female in the wrestling business. I don’t see what Vince Russo sees in Midajah. Oh wait, I do, but that’s an entirely different subject.

For a major superstar, The Rock does far too many jobs. In his heyday, Hulk Hogan did far too few.

I was always a big fan of Hulk Hogan growing up, but I can’t say I’ve missed him in the least. I wouldn’t mind seeing the return of Mr. Perfect however.

The WWF has enough talent to establish an impressive light heavyweight division: Dean Malenko, Too Cool, Kai En Tai, Crash Holly, Essa Rios, etc. Jeff Hardy could even be used to spice up the division.

Why are we being subjected to a Kronic-Harris Brothers feud? Are they really paying Russo for coming up with this stuff?

The WWF needs to drop the European title again, and this time for good. After all, how many times is the title actually defended in Europe?

Mike Awesome’s “Lava Lamp Louge” on Thunder reminded me too much of Dude Love’s “Love Shack.” Awesome has gone from ECW Champion to a 1970’s geek. Poor Mike.

Raw posts six plus ratings, while the U.S. Tennis Open does less than a fourth of those impressive numbers. This is the final year the WWF will be pre-empted for Tennis.

Tidbits: The 2001 Royal Rumble with be hosted by the recently constructed New Orleans Arena … The Fabulous Moolah’s autobiography will be released in the first quarter of the new year … Chyna's WWF workout video entitled “Chyna Fitness” will go on sale September 19th … With all the recent cuts in WCW, there are now less than 50 wrestlers under contract … The Owen Hart trial has been delayed indefinitely.
