WCW Is Missing the Boat With Key ‘Impact Players’

In WCW, it doesn’t matter if Vince Russo, Eric Bischoff, or whomever has creative control, the company continues to miss the boat with these potential superstars:

(1) Mike Awesome. Rather than hot shooting Awesome straight to the top, WCW placed him in the New Blood, and he quickly lost the momentum he brought with him from ECW. Credentials - Awesome is a former ECW and World Tag Team Champion; has great agility for a big man.

(2) Torrie Wilson. A natural beauty saddled in mid card purgatory. WCW simply does not know how to market women. WWF made a mint off Sable and Sunny, and WCW could do the same with the eye popping Wilson. Credentials - Just look at her.

(3) Crowbar. He is young and talented, but been reduced to hanging out and now feuding with David Flair and the ever annoying Daffney. This guy has proved himself as a risk taker, and should be pushed as one. Credentials - Won half of the Cruiserweight Title with Daffney; won numerous independent titles.

(4) Kaz Hayashi. If you can’t talk on a microphone in WCW, you’ll always be on the bottom looking up; here is a prime example. Credentials - Well rounded ring abilities; would be an asset to the at one time prestigious Cruiserweight division.

(5) Shane Helms and Shannon Moore. Many feel that this combination is another Hardy Boyz team in waiting. Heaven knows this company needs to add teams to their depleted tag team division. Credentials - Looks, girls dig them, and they can flat out wrestle.

(6) Lenny Lane. His contract expires on August 2nd, and it is very possible he will jump ship. This talented young cruiserweight has been wasted as a sidekick to Lodi. Credentials - Looks like Chris Jericho; has untapped talent.

(7) Chavo Guerrero Jr. (Lieutenant Loco). Flat out, this guy is hilarious. He was comical with his make believe horse Pepe, and was equally as funny in his salesman gimmick. Credentials - Another product of the legendary Guerrero family and is under 30 years of age.

(8) Arn Anderson. “The Enforcer” was forced into retirement in 1997, following neck surgery. Anderson is one of the best interviews in the business, period. Anderson has the ability to get anyone over in the company. Credentials - Extraordinary mic skills; can still interfere in matches.

(9) Mona. She is young and talented, and the fans always pop for her. During a period when the Bischoff-Russo collation pushed the use of women, they left Mona out of the picture. She has as much in ring ability as most of the women in the business. Credentials - young, talented, and well received.

(10) Alex Wright. Remember this guy? He was transformed into Berlyn, and his career hit rock bottom. Wright is an effective heel, and when dancing, a great comedic act. Comedy is something WCW needs in the worst way. Credentials - a former WCW Television and Cruiserweight Champion; he is only 25.

Tidbits: Curt Hennig’s WCW contract has expired … Sunday Night Heat is expected to move to MTV in October … Paul Heyman has had preliminary discussions with the USA Network ... Eric Bischoff’s father Kenneth passed away last week at the age of 70 … Mark Henry is still under contract to the WWF, and is competing in Ohio Valley Wrestling, a territory booked by Jim Cornette … Psicosis was scheduled to appear at the ECW Arena/TNN Taping Saturday night, but missed the show due to a flight problem.
