Headlines for Tuesday, January 22, 2008

- With the introduction to HD, WWE wrestlers have been told to work more physical in the work, thus demonstrating a stiffer ring style.

- The reason WWE issued the initial 2008 releases for DVDs with more titles is because Vince McMahon insisted on it. He, of course, didn’t approve the list before it was released, thus WWE is scrambling to fill the vacant dates due to the cancellation of the Randy Savage and Sting DVD projects. A possible replacement might be the second Bret Hart DVD project.

- Jakks Pacific announced the signing of Marc Mero for the Classic Superstars line.

- At the Impact tapings, TNA taped a Judas Mesias vs. Abyss No Ropes Barbed Wire match for the 2/10 Against All Odds PPV.

- The Las Vegas manufacturer and distributor of energy drink Xenergy, which sponsors the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has filed for bankruptcy protection amid claims of intimidation and death threats. Xyience Inc., the energy drink company headquartered at 4572 Hacienda Ave., reported $42.3 million in liabilities and $5.3 million in assets. Xyience sells its energy drink through 230 convenience and grocery stores, mostly in the Southwest.
