- In 1999, Josh Prohibition (his friend from high school) introduced him to ECW, which blew away his previous conceptions of pro wrestling.
- He had two or three backyard matches, and decided he wanted to take wrestling seriously and enrolled at the Cleveland Pro Wrestling training school where he was trained by J.T. Lighting.
- Lighting was aware of his backyard matches and was impressed, and approached MDogg20 and Prohibition about training at the school.
- MDogg20 did competitive gymnastics for ten years.
- When asked about backyard wrestling, MDogg20 was mixed as he realizes that is where it started for him. He said that for kids that think if they do backyard wrestling to get noticed, he has a problem with it. MDogg20 said he doesn’t have a problem with people doing it just for fun in the back yard.
- MDogg20 made his debut against Prohibition.
- Prior to the MDogg20 gimmick, he used the ring name the 18th amendment. He came up with the MDogg20 ring name totally on a whim.
- He likes the ring name “Iron” Matt Cross.
- He identified XPW, CZW, IWA Mid-South, Big Japan, LML (Mexico City), UWA in Toronto, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, MLW as some of the more recognizable promotions he has wrestled for.
- He considers his home federation Cleveland Pro Wrestling.
- MDogg20 has had one “XPlosion” match for TNA. He thinks his style would fit into TNA’s X division.
- He said his favorite worker is A.J. Styles.
- MDogg20 stated that he hasn’t watch WWE in 2 or 3 years. He feels WWE spends too much time on storylines, and not enough time devoted to in-ring action.
- He identified strengths as a willingness to learn and innovation. He feels his background in gymnastics has helped with body awareness and with his high flying abilities. Weakness? He says he needs to be a more well rounded wrestler.
- He felt his best match was in October 2003 in Erie, PA against Jerry Lynn.
- He stated that he has met some of his individual goals coming into the business. He has been flown to the matches. MDogg20 has wrestled on pay-per-view (Japanese Hardcore PPV). The goal that remains is to work a WWE dark match. He would also like to return to Japan.
- He aspires to reach the wrestling abilities of Styles, Christopher Daniels, and the American Dragon.
- He has worked more as a babyface in his career, but he prefers being a heel because he feels it’s easier to get someone to dislike you.
- “I think everyone knows that it’s down,” was his response to the current state of wrestling. He hopes that the business picks up in a few years when he is a more complete wrestler.
