Interview with Hiroko

Interview conducted: January 23, 2006

Key:
SG> Steve Gerweck
HS> Hiroko (Suzuki)

SG> How did you and Kenzo meet?
HS> Met while he was in the university (Meiji University). He was superstar as a Rugby player at the university.

SG> Did you enjoy being a WWE diva?
HS> Yes, very much!

SG> Was it your idea to wear the white makeup on WWE television?
HS> Yes, and the WWE office. But I didn't imagine white make-up actually. My Geisha style is a little different from the real one. The movie named memories of Geisha...that Geisha is also not real Geisha. That one is like me! I guess they made that seeing my WWE Geisha, I guess. They might have misunderstood. But I am understood that is the Geisha that Americans think.

SG> How do you feel American fans perceive Asian women?
HS> They love Blonde girls (Ha Ha!). And they think Asian women, especially Japanese, is modest and quiet. And it's true! But I'm not!

SG> Do you think you and Kenzo may work again for WWE?
HS> We don't know, never say never! All we have to do is just do our best. And just keep going.

SG> Do you believe you and Kenzo were treated fairly in WWE?
HS> We got a lot of special experiences from WWE actually. So we really give thanks to WWE for giving us a chance. It is real. And also we don't wanna complaint about the past. We accepted what happened to us. But otherwise, we can get different experiences from this. So that is why we believe that all we have to do is just go forward with hope. It was OK. Japanese doesn't like to say (sour grapes). We still have the blood of SAMURAI.

SG> How much time did you have left on your WWE contract when you were released?
HS> Two years.

SG> What is your opinion of John Laurinaitis/Johnny Ace?
HS> I respect him. He hired us, and he taught us a lot of things in WWE. So I don't feel anything that you expect.

SG> What is your opinion of Vince McMahon? How about Dave Lagana?
HS> They are wonderful. Dave is my good friend.

SG> Do you still watch WWE?
HS> I don't see WWE now. I am so busy going to Japan and Mexico and Europe. But many wrestlers say that WWE's schedule is much more tough than before. But it is because WWE is biggest wrestling company in the world. I cannot say anything about it. Because I am not a WWE wrestler now.

SG> Is there a chance we may see you and Kenzo show up in TNA?
HS> I wanna challenge and try every possibility. TNA is the one of my chances. But we got CMLL shows in Mexico right now.

SG> How do American and Japanese fans differ?
HS> Japanese fans wanna see "fight" like sports in wrestling. American wrestling is more entertainment than Japanese wrestling. So fans too. Japanese fans are more calm, and they are not good at expressing their feelings. But they stare at what wrestlers do in the ring, without a voice. It is a big difference. Sometime American wrestlers feel worried in the ring in Japan because they are so silent, but they did not feel bored. They really enjoyed!

SG> How did you get the job of General Manager for Hustle?
HS> Trick!!

SG> Have you ever actually trained to wrestle?
HS> In WWE, just a little bit!

SG> Are you currently living in the U.S. or Japan?
HS> USA! I love it here!

SG> Is it true that you were actually a translator and/or news broadcaster in Japan?
HS> I used to work at a TV station as a newscaster in Japan, and still do newscaster job, sometimes. But now I am too busy to do news jobs reguraly. So now I show up for a TV program as a guest, not as a host.

SG> There was a story going around that you agreed to pose nude for photographs in the hopes of finding work in Hollywood. Is this true?
HS> No. My friend, who is an Asian talent agent in Hollywood, asked me to do some photoshoots. So I took some sexy shots. But some Japanese magazines got these photos, so these photos went out in Japan. That's all. But my photo book will be published this year, and it will include sexy shots. I already published a book in Japan. It is about my life.
