Interview with Francine

Interview conducted: February 2002

Key:
SG> Steve Gerweck
FF> Francine Fournier

SG> How did you break into the wrestling business?
FF> I'm from Philadephia and one night I turned on the tv and ECW was on. They had a wrestling school and I dediced to give it a try. I had no ties, I knew no one in the business. So I met with Tod Gordon and the rest is history!

SG> When ECW closed down, how much time did you have left on your contract?
FF> I think my contract was until June of 2002.

SG> Describe the moral in the ECW locker room in the final months of the promotion's existence.
FF> Moral was real low. We tried to have fun but we knew our livelyhood was slipping away. It was horrible not knowing if you were going to work the next week or not.

SG> How would you describe Paul Heyman?
FF> Paul Heyman is a very smart man when it comes to wrestling. I've learned a lot from him and I will always remember him for that.

SG> What was the highlight of your ECW experience?
FF> The highlight of my ECW experience was being able to entertain people every week. I enjoyed my job and would give almost anything to have it back.

SG> Who or whom did you enjoy manage the most? Why?
FF> There is no one man that I enjoyed working with the most. Everyone brought something different to the table.

SG> What is your personal opinion of the "ECW on TNN" episode that featured Tammy Lynn Sytch "telling her story?"
FF> I did not see the episode with Tammy on TNN.

SG> Were you ever asked to do something in the ring that you were not comfortable with? Do you feel you were ever exposed?
FF> Paul always asked me if I was ok with doing what I had to do. He never forced me to do anything I didn't want to.

SG> What is something that people would be surprised to know about you?
FF> That I go to church every Sunday that I can and I'm very close with my family.

SG> Francine the valet is a wrestling personality. How much is Francine the wrestling personality like or dislike Francine the person?
FF> "Francine" the character and the real Francine are total opposities in the way she acts. The character feels that she is the greatest woman in the world and the real person tries to be as down to earth and normal as she can be. But I will jump in a flight to help a friend out if need be. They share that trait.

SG> At one point, WCW was signing away several members of the ECW roster - Saturn, Douglas, Sandman, etc. Did you ever receive an offer to jump to WCW?
FF> WCW never contacted me.

SG> What have you been doing since ECW closed down?
FF> I have been working on my new web site www.foreverfrancine.com and performing at indy shows and autograph signings so check the site out and come see me.

SG> In general, how do you feel women are portrayed in professional wrestling?
FF> I had so much creative control over my character that I was responsible for the way "Francine" was portrayed in ECW. Some angles now a days are pretty out there, but if the girls are comfortable then its fine. It's a show, its not real life. So I take it as any other tv show.

SG> Are you interested in working for the WWF? Have you been contacted by them or have you contacted them?
FF> I would love to work for the WWF but as a manager. Not as a female wrestler. Paul contacted me last April but it went no further than that.

SG> What is your opinion of the women currently in the WWF?
FF> I think the woman of the WWF are doing a great job. They are very entertaining.

SG> Do you have a favorite wrestling angle that you took part in? Do you have a favorite catfight?
FF> I enjoyed every angle I was involved in. I can't pick just one. A catfight is just rolling around. I can't pick a favorite because they were all the same.

SG> What words of advice might you offer to young ladies that would like to break into the wrestling industry?
FF> My advice is to go to a good wrestling school and train and learn as much as you can. And always keep your mouth shut so you won't get in trouble.

SG> What does the future hold for Francine? And is there anything you would like to say your fans?

FF> I hope the future holds more shows and appearances for me and I just would like to say "thank you" to all of the people who supported myself and ECW. I miss performing for all of you. Come visit me at www.foreverfrancine.com
