SummerSlam Preshow:

The SummerSlam Kickoff Show kicks off from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Renee Young, Booker T, Lita, and Jerry Lawler welcome us to the show. We go backstage with Tom Phillips, who is in the Social Media Lounge. He says the WWE Women’s Champion, Sasha Banks, will be his guest a little later on tonight. We go back to the panel, and Lita says she is really looking forward to seeing Dean Ambrose versus Dolph Ziggler. Lawler says he is looking forward to Finn Balor versus Seth Rollins. Booker says he is looking forward to Brock Lesnar versus Randy Orton. Renee brings up the matches that we will see on the preshow tonight; a 12-Man Tag Team Match featuring American Alpha, The Hype Bros, and The Usos vs. Breezango, The Ascension, and The Vaudevillains, Sami Zayn and Neville vs. The Dudley Boyz, and Cesaro vs. Sheamus in the first match of a best-of-seven series. Renee asks which of those three matches will get the people most pumped for SummerSlam, and Lawler says he doesn’t know if he can pick just one, but Lita picks Cesaro and Sheamus, and Booker agrees with her. Renee brings up Cesaro’s comments after the Draft, and Lita says Sheamus acted the same way, but we know they can both back it up in the ring. Lawler says Sheamus is angry about where he is in the country and there will be a fight tonight. Booker says Cesaro is in a position that he himself was in many years ago. He says Cesaro has to keep knocking on the door until somebody answers. Renee brings up the feud and match between John Cena and AJ Styles, and we take a look at the video hype package for the two men. We go back to the panel and Booker says that Styles has proven that he belongs in the WWE and if he gets a win tonight he will be the face of Smackdown. Lawler says Styles beat Cena one time and got lucky. Lawler says no one beats Cena twice unless they are super lucky. Lita says Cena has been the face of the place for a really long time and Styles wants that spot. Booker says Cena is on the back end of his career and Styles can get it done. Lita picks Cena to win, as does Lawler, and Booker picks Styles. Renee says the panel will break down the Intercontinental Championship Match between The Miz and Apollo Crews after the break.

Back from the break, we take a look back to three weeks ago on Smackdown when Apollo Crews defeated Baron Corbin and Kalisto to become the number one contender to the Intercontinental Championship. We then take a look back to last week on Smackdown when Apollo Crews confronted The Miz during a commercial break and delivered the sit-out power bomb after The Miz intentionally messed up Crews’ name. Booker says Miz was disrespecting Crews and trying to get in his head. Lawler asks who Apollo Creed was and says it was a compliment that Miz was giving to Crews. Lita says tonight could be Crews’ opportunity to make everyone remember his name tonight. Booker picks Crews to win, Lawler picks Miz, and Lita picks Crews.

We go backstage with Tom Phillips and Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens. Owens says Tom doesn’t seem happen to see him. He says they personally asked for him to be their interviewer tonight. Jericho says they are sorry for calling him by the wrong name and then calls him “Phillip.” Jericho apologizes to Enzo for asking if he was really a certified G, and Jericho said he took the test, passed, and got a certificate saying he is now a certified G as well. Jericho says apparently you can teach that, but you can’t teach chemistry. Owens says you can teach chemistry, and he got a 96 in it in school. Owens says he and Jericho are the closest tag team in WWE and they have each other’s backs until the end. Owens says Enzo and Cass are at their end tonight and he and Jericho are going to ruin their homecoming. He says Enzo won’t be asking “How you doin?” but will be asking his sister why she is crying and why his mother is wearing a Kevin Owens shirt. Jericho says Enzo and Cass are going to get “it” tonight. Booker says Jericho and Owens are dangerous because they are Canadian and they have that connection. Lita says the building will explode when Enzo and Cass’ music hits.


12-Man Tag Team Match: The Vaudevillains (Aiden English, Simon Gotch), The Ascension (Konnor, Viktor), and Breezango (Tyler Breeze, Fandango) vs. The Hype Bros (Zack Ryder, Mojo Rawley), The Usos (Jimmy, Jey), and American Alpha (Chad Gable, Jason Jordan)
Breeze and Gable start the match for their teams. They tie up and Gable takes Breeze down with a few waist-lock take down. Gable connects with another takedown, but Breeze comes back with a wrist-lock. Gable comes right back and takes Breeze down with a leg-scissors take-down, and then works over Breeze’s arm. Gable takes Breeze to the corner and tags in Jey Uso. Breeze takes control of Jey and backs him into the corner. Aiden English tags in and goes to work on Jey. English connects with some right hands and takes Jey to the corner, but Jey quickly comes back and drops English with a scoop slam and tags in Mojo Rawley. Rawley works over English’s shoulder and some shoulder blocks and then applies a wrist-lock, but English fights back. English connects with a couple right hands, but Rawley counters and tosses English down to the mat before tagging in Zack Ryder. Ryder and Rawley double-team English for a bit and then Ryder takes English to the corner and connects with a series of right hands. Ryder goes for the Broski Boot, but all hell breaks loose and all 12 men begin to brawl in the ring. The Ascension toss the Usos out of the ring, but then American Alpha take down Konnor and Viktor with clotheslines from the top rope. Breezango pulls Alpha out of the ring and then Ryder takes Breeze and Fandango down with a dropkick before English sends Ryder to the outside as we head to a break.
We’re back and Simon Gotch and Ryder are the legal men. Gotch takes Ryder down and goes for a cover, but Ryder kicks out at two. Gotch applies an arm-bar submission and takes Ryder down to the mat again, but Ryder fights to his feet. Gotch back Ryder into the corner and Viktor tags in. Viktor stomps Ryder down in the corner and goes for the cover, but Ryder kicks out again. Viktor applies a headlock down on the mat, but Ryder fights out of it. Ryder goes for the tag, but Viktor catches him and takes him to the opposite corner. Konnor tags in and they double-team Ryder and slam him down to the mat. Konnor goes for the cover, but Ryder kicks out once again. Breeze tags back in and stomps Ryder down in the corner and then connects with a leg drop. Breeze goes for the cover, but Ryder kicks out again. Breeze applies a headlock down on the mat, but Ryder fights to his feet. Ryder delivers some elbows, but Breeze counters Ryder and applies a single-leg Boston crab. Fandango tags in and delivers a springboard leg drop to Ryder. Fandango goes for the cover, but Ryder kicks out. Viktor tags back in and applies a headlock to Ryder in the middle of the ring. Ryder gets to his feet, but Viktor backs him into the corner. Konnor tags in and he is Viktor take Ryder’s partners off the aprons. They go after Ryder, but Ryder counters and sends Viktor, Fandango, and The Vaudevillains to the floor. Ryder goes to tag in Jimmy Uso, who is back on the apron, but Konnor stops him. Ryder counters Konnor and tags in Jimmy as Konnor tags in Breeze. Jimmy takes Konnor down with an enzuiguri and Jason Jordan tags in. Jordan takes Breeze down with a suplex and then delivers one to Gotch as well, who is now the legal man. English delivers a power bomb to Gable, Mojo takes out English, Breeze takes out Rawley, and Viktor takes out Ryder. Viktor puts Ryder on the top rope and Breeze helps him out. Rawley saves Ryder and power bombs Breeze and Viktor. Ryder delivers the ElBrow Drop to Breeze and Fandango drops a leg on Ryder. The Ascension takes out Jimmy and Gable sends Konnor and Viktor over the top rope. The Usos superkick The Ascension and launch over the top rope and take everyone out. Gotch sends Gable to the apron, but Jordan spears Gotch in the corner. Alpha hits Grand Amplitude, but Jey Uso steals the tag and gets the pin for his team.
Winners: The Usos, American Alpha, and The Hype Bros.
After the match, there is a little tension between Gable and Jey, but they overcome it and celebrate their win.

We go back to the panel, and they talk about the match and the future Smackdown Tag Team Championships. We then take a look at the video hype package for the feud and match between Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler. Renee asks how small of a window Ziggler has now. Lita says he knows his window is closing, but he is proving he can get it done. Lawler says we never know what Ambrose is going to do next and says Ziggler is in the right place at the wrong time and says Ambrose will retain tonight. Booker says Ziggler is one hell of a competitor, but he agrees that Ziggler’s window is closing. Booker says tonight could be Ziggler’s last chance. Renee asks if Ambrose is underestimating Ziggler. Lita says Ambrose takes things seriously in his own way and she says Ambrose will get it done tonight and Booker agrees with her as we head to a break.

Back from the break, Baron Corbin interrupts the preshow. He says he was supposed to have a match with Kalisto tonight, but he says Kalisto begged and pleaded with doctors to keep him at home. He says he hopes Kalisto is comfortable at home because he is going to put him there permanently. Renee tries to ask a question, but Corbin says he isn’t here to answer questions and walks away. Renee brings up the feud between Rusev and Roman Reigns and then we see the video hype package for the feud. They talk about the wedding celebration of Rusev and Lana that Reigns interrupted two weeks ago. Booker says neither man is in a good mood tonight, but that is good news for all of us. Lita picks Reigns, Lawler picks Rusev, and Booker picks Rusev. Talk then transitions to the Women’s Championship Match between the champion, Sasha Banks, and her challenger, Charlotte. We then take a look at the video hype package for the feud.

Sasha Banks joins Tom Phillips in the Social Media Lounge. Someone asks what is the best thing about being the WWE Women’s Champion. She says she is the best woman in the company right now and the title proves it. Someone asks how she is going to beat Charlotte tonight. She asks if they watched four weeks ago when she beat Charlotte. She says she will do it again. Someone asks if Sasha thinks that Charlotte has something up her sleeve tonight, and Sasha says she knows Charlotte does. Someone asks if Sasha is scared of Charlotte, and Sasha says of course she is not afraid and that she was born to do this. We go back to the panel and Lita says Charlotte has come into her own as a competitor. She says Charlotte is coming after Sasha hard and Lawler says when you have the “I” attitude that Sasha has, that’s when you lose. Booker and Lawler pick Charlotte and Lita picks Sasha.

We join Andrea D’Marco and Cesaro backstage. She asks if the Best-of-7 Series is a way for Cesaro to prove himself. Cesaro says he and Sheamus both have a chip on their shoulders and have something to prove. Cesaro says it is extreme important to win the first match tonight. He says he and Sheamus are evenly matched and this is the perfect way to settle it. We go back to the panel and Renee says Sami Zayn and Neville will take on The Dudley Boyz next.


The Dudley Boyz vs. Sami Zayn and Neville
Neville and D-Von start the match. They tie up and D-Von applies a wrist-lock. Neville counters and applies his own wrist-lock before tagging in Zayn. Zayn applies his won wrist-lock and wrenches D-Von’s arm before tagging Neville back in. Neville continues the work on D-Von’s arm and tags Zayn back in. Zayn holds D-Von in place and tags in Neville, who comes off the top rope and clubs D-Von. Neville and Zayn double-team D-Von and then Neville gets launched by Zayn and dropkicks Bubba. D-Von comes back and trips up Neville and Bubba takes down Neville from behind. D-Von slams Neville into the corner and beats him down. D-Von connects with a spinning elbow and goes for the cover, but Neville kicks out at two as we head to a break.
Back from the break, Bubba is the legal man now and he drops Neville with a neck-breaker in the corner. Bubba tags in D-Von, who goes for the cover, but Neville kicks out at two. D-Von wrenches Neville’s neck and delivers some right hands that sends Neville into the ropes. D-Von drops Neville to the mat and delivers a leg drop. D-Von goes for the cover, but Neville kicks out at two. D-Von takes Neville to the corner and delivers a series of right hands. Neville begins to fight back, but D-Von cuts him off and tags in Bubba. Bubba slams Neville into the corner and delivers a kidney shot. Bubba punches Neville in the face and then delivers a back elbow when Neville tries to fight back. Bubba goes to the ropes and jumps off, but Neville moves and Bubba crashes to the mat. Zayn and D-Von tag in and Zayn takes D-Von down with some clotheslines. Zayn delivers a dropkick to D-Von connects with the Blue Thunderbomb. Zayn goes for the cover, but Bubba breaks it up. D-Von tags in Bubba and they double-team Zayn. They deliver a neck-breaker and Bubba goes for the cover, but Neville breaks it up. They beat down Neville and go for the 3D, but Zayn gets out of it and Bubba clotheslines D-Von. Zayn tags in Neville, who delivers the Red Arrow to Bubba after Zayn connects with the Helluva Kick, and gets the pin fall.
Winners: Neville and Sami Zayn.

We go back to the panel and Lawler says they are all impressed with the new guys, but he is disappointed with the veteran Dudley Boyz. We then take a look at the video hype package for the feud between Finn Balor and Seth Rollins. Back to the panel, Renee asks if everyone is ready for the Demon King to appear. Booker says he is ready for his Shucky Ducky Quack Quack Moment of the Night. He says Balor’s other persona, the Demon King, debuting on Monday Night Raw got in Seth Rollins’ head, but Rollins is as good as ever and it is going to be an awesome match tonight. Booker says Rollins has perfect timing and is fluid in the ring. Booker says we will see something that we have never seen from Rollins tonight. Renee says Balor has been in Brooklyn before, but in NXT and wonders if he is ready for the WWE stage. Lita says she is looking forward to this match and either guy will make himself with this match. Renee asks it would make either guy, but how much would it beak Rollins if he lost it. Lawler says it will break either guy if they lose tonight. Lawler says Balor puts on his alter ego to intimidate his opponents, and it may have worked in NXT, but he is in the ring with Seth Rollins tonight and Rollins won’t be intimidated. Lawler says Rollins will take care of business tonight. Lita says there are some things that we have not seen from Balor that we will see tonight. Lita picks Balor to win, and King and Booker pick Rollins.

We get a promo commercial for all of the shows on the WWE Network, and then we see the next pay-per-view event will be the Smackdown-exclusive Backlash event on Sunday, September 11th.


Match 1 in a Best-of-7 Series: Sheamus vs. Cesaro
They tie up and back up into the corner. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick early, but Cesaro ducks under and connects with an uppercut. Cesaro springsboards, but Sheamus catches him. Cesaro fights out and goes for the swing, but Sheamus fights out of it. Cesaro sends Sheamus to the floor and then goes to dive through the ropes, but Sheamus catches him with a right hand. Sheamus gets back into the ring, but Cesaro catches him with a dropkick. Cesaro goes for the cover, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Cesaro takes Sheamus into the corner, but Sheamus counters and delivers a few right hands before Cesaro turns the tide and delivers right hands of his own. Cesaro sends Sheamus to the opposite corner and charges, but Sheamus sends him to the apron and goes for the ten clubbing blows on the apron. Cesaro blocks Sheamus and delivers a headbutt, but Sheamus drapes him over the top rope. Sheamus slams Cesaro into the ring post and drops him with a clothesline on the apron. Sheamus grabs Cesaro and delivers a suplex and goes for the cover, but Cesaro kicks out at one. Sheamus applies a wrist-lock down on the mat, but Cesaro fights to his feet and drops Sheamus with a slam to the mat. Cesaro delivers a suplex to Sheamus and goes for the cover, but Sheamus kicks out at one. Sheamus comes back and puts Cesaro in the corner. Sheamus charges, but Cesaro catches him with an elbow. Sheamus comes back and slams Cesaro down to the mat and goes for the cover, but Cesaro kicks out at two as we head to a break.
Back from the break, Sheamus has Cesaro in a headlock down on the mat. Cesaro gets to his feet and comes off the ropes, but Sheamus catches him with the Irish Curse back-breaker. Sheamus goes for the cover, but Cesaro kicks out at two. Sheamus grabs Cesaro, but Cesaro fights his way out and delivers an uppercut. Sheamus delivers right hands of his own and then drops Cesaro with a rolling senton. Sheamus grabs Cesaro and goes for a suplex, but Cesaro blocks it. They each block suplexes and Sheamus puts Cesaro on the apron, but Cesaro holds onto Sheamus and they crash to the floor. Both men get back into the ring and Sheamus stays on the attack. Cesaro slaps Sheamus across the face and then delivers a series of uppercuts in the corner. Cesaro sends Sheamus into the corners and then delivers a dropkick as well. Sheamus falls to the apron and Cesaro grabs him. Cesaro picks Sheamus up and suplexes him back into the ring. Cesaro goes for the cover, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Cesaro goes for the swing, but Sheamus counters with a roll-up. Cesaro kicks out at two and goes for the Neutralizer, but Sheamus counters with White Noise. Sheamus goes for the cover, but Cesaro kicks out at two. Sheamus grabs Cesaro and goes to the middle rope and connects with a rolling senton. Sheamus goes for the cover, but Cesaro kicks out at two again. Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick, but Cesaro counters with a big boot and a huge clothesline. Cesaro goes for the cover, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Cesaro goes to the top of the ring post and then springboards off of the ringpost and connects with a cross-body. Cesaro goes for the cover, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Cesaro swings Sheamus and then locks in the Sharpshooter, but Sheamus gets to the ropes. Sheamus catches Cesaro with a back elbow and goes for the Brogue Kick, but Cesaro ducks under. Sheamus pokes Cesaro in the eye and rams him into the ring post shoulder first. Sheamus connects with the Brogue Kick and gets the pin fall.
Winner: Sheamus. Sheamus leads the series 1-0.

We go back to the panel and they begin talking about the match between Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar. Booker says someone will bleed and we are definitely going to Suplex City and we could go to Viperville. Booker says Orton has all the tools to hit the RKO out of nowhere. Lawler says Orton is not an underdog in this match. He says both men know what is at stake and will go out there to give it there all. Lawler picks Orton to get the win. Lita picks Lesnar. Booker picks Orton. We then see the video hype package for the match between Orton and Lesnar as the preshow comes to a close.

SummerSlam:

We see the opening video for SummerSlam, which focuses on the feuds heading into tonight’s event. We go live into the Barclays Center and Michael Cole welcomes us to the show.


Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens
Owens and Jericho knock Cass to the floor and double-team Amore. Owens goes to his corner and Jericho slams Amore down as Cass gets back on the apron. Jericho trash talks Amore, but Amore comes back with a cross-body and then a big right hand to Jericho. Amore goes for the cover, but Jericho kicks out at two. Cass tags in and Jericho runs to his corner and tags in Owens. Cass pulls Owens into the ring and delivers a few big right hands in the corner. Owens gets Cass in a headlock, but Cass picks Owens up and tosses him across the ring. Cass delivers a scoop slam and tags in Amore. Cass slams Amore down onto Owens and Amore goes for the cover, but Owens kicks out at two. Jericho tags in and so does Cass. Owens gets into the ring and Cass slams Owens into Jericho in the corner. Cass goes for the splash in the corner, but Jericho and Owens roll to the floor. Cass tosses Amore over the top rope and onto Jericho and Owens. Back in the ring, Amore delivers a series of right hands to Jericho in the corner, but Owens distracts Amore and Jericho takes advantage. Owens mocks Amore on the apron and does the dance that Amore does. Owens tags in and beats down Amore in the corner and tags in Jericho. Jericho tosses Amore down to the mat and then applies a headlock. Amore fights to his feet and comes off the ropes, but Jericho takes him down with a dropkick. Owens tags in and drops Amore with a gut-buster and then connects with a senton. Owens goes for the cover, but Amore kicks out at two. Owens applies a headlock down on the mat, but Amore fights to his feet. Owens decks Amore with a right hands and then delivers a right hand in the corner. Amore fights back and kicks Owens in the face and knocks Jericho to the floor. Owens grabs Amore’s ankle and tags in Jericho. Amore kicks Owens in the head on the floor and gets back into the ring. Amore jumps toward Cass, but Jericho hits him in midair and stops him from tagging Cass. Jericho takes Cass to the floor and tags in Owens. Owens hits the frog splash on Amore and goes for the cover, but Amore kicks out at two. Cass gets back on the apron and Owens takes Amore to the corner. Owens delivers a big chop, but Amore comes back with a right hand. Owens beats down Amore in the corner, but then backs away. Amore gets in a few kicks and goes up top, but Owens pulls him down to the mat. Owens goes for the cannonball, but Amore moves out of the way. Cass tags in and so does Jericho. Cass drops Jericho with a shoulder tackle and kicks Owens to the floor. Cass slams Jericho to the mat and connects with the Empire Elbow. Cass goes for the splash in the corner, but Jericho gets his boots up. Jericho goes up top, but Cass delivers a big boot. Amore tags in, but Owens pulls Amore down from the top. Cass decks Owens with a right hand, but then Owens sends Cass into the ring post and then Owens hits the cannonball onto Cass against the barricade. Jericho goes up top with Amore, but Amore slams Jericho back to the mat. Amore drops Jericho with the DD-G and goes for the cover, but Owens breaks it up. Amore goes after Owens, but Owens and Jericho connects with the Pop Up Codebreaker and Jericho gets the pin fall.
Winners: Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens.
After the match, we see match highlights as Jericho and Owens celebrate their win.

We see a Tapout advertisement and then see Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan backstage. They stop when they see Mick Foley and they all shake hands. Foley says the Smackdown matches will be good, but Raw will be better. John Stewart walks up and shakes hands with them all. Stewart asks Foley how he could work with Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie stands behind Stewart and then gets pissed off at him for talking about her. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods walk up and Foley starts eating some of Kofi’s Booty O’s. Kofi says they need a favor from Stewart and he leaves with them.

We see the video hype package for the feud between Sasha Banks and Charlotte.


WWE Women’s Championship Match: Sasha Banks (c) vs. Charlotte
Sasha goes after Charlotte, but Charlotte backs into the ropes. They tie up and Charlotte takes Sasha into the corner. Sasha decks Charlotte and applies a headlock. Sasha sends Charlotte down to the mat and goes for the Bank Statement, but Charlotte rolls out to the floor. Charlotte gets back on the apron and then takes Sasha down in the ring. Charlotte goes for the cover, but Sasha quickly kicks out. They exchange quick pin attempts and then Sasha blocks a chop from Charlotte and delivers one of her own. Sasha slams Charlotte face-first into the turnbuckle, but Charlotte comes back and slaps Sasha a few times. Charlotte puts Sasha on the top rope and chokes her with her boot. Charlotte picks Sasha up and slams her on the ropes and Sasha crashes down to the mat in a heap. Charlotte goes for the cover, but Sasha kicks out. The referee tells Charlotte to back up as he checks on Sasha, but Charlotte drives her knees into Sasha’s back. Charlotte goes for another cover, but Sasha kicks out at two. Charlotte applies a submission in the middle of the ring, but Sasha delivers a few elbows. Charlotte coverts a backslide, but Sasha kicks out. Sasha delivers more elbows and then connects with a knee strike. Sasha drops Charlotte with a few clotheslines and then a big dropkick. Sasha charges at Charlotte in the corner, but Charlotte gets her boots up. Charlotte connects with a back-breaker and goes for the cover, but Sasha kicks out at two. Charlotte slams Sasha into the corner and then kicks Sasha in the back. Charlotte stomps down on Sasha and then puts her on the top turnbuckle. Charlotte goes for a superplex, but Sasha counters with a hurricanrana. Charlotte comes right back and goes for the Figure Eight, but Sasha kicks her away. Sasha charges at Charlotte, but Charlotte catches her and hangs her upside down in the corner. Charlotte continues the attack on Sasha’s back and sets her up in the corner. Charlotte goes for a Razor’s Edge from the top rope, but Sasha counters with a hurricanrana. Charlotte and Sasha exchange right hands and Charlotte delivers a chop as well. Sasha comes back with slaps to Charlotte and the goes for the running knees in the corner, but Charlotte moves. Charlotte charges at Sasha, but Sasha moves and applies a Boston Crab in the ropes as the referee counts. Sasha drops her knees into Charlotte’s back and goes for the cover, but Charlotte kicks out at two. Charlotte comes back and takes out Sasha’s knee and takes Sasha to the top rope. Sasha fights back and sends Charlotte to the floor. Sasha drops double knees from the top rope and takes Charlotte out on the floor. Back in the ring, Sasha goes for the cover, but Charlotte kicks out at two. Sasha goes for the backstabber, but her back gives out. Charlotte goes for Natural Selection, but Sasha rolls through and locks in the Bank Statement. Charlotte is able to get out of the hold after Sasha kicks off the ropes. Charlotte delivers a neck-breaker and then takes out Sasha’s knee. Charlotte delivers Natural Selection, but Sasha kicks out of the pin attempt. Charlotte goes for the cover twice more, but Sasha kicks out each time. Charlotte grabs Sasha and slaps her across the face. Charlotte slaps Sasha again and yells that she is better than her. Charlotte goes for a tilt-a-whirl slam, but Sasha counters with a Bank Statement. Charlotte counters with a roll up and gets the pin fall.
Winner and new WWE Women’s Champion: Charlotte.
After the match, we see match highlights and referees come to the ring to check on Sasha as Charlotte looks on from the entrance ramp.

We go backstage and see Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. They are still searching for a cure for Ringpostitis and AJ Styles walks up. They “too sweet” and Styles says the moment they stepped foot in WWE he saw nothing but greatness. He says he is going to beat up John Cena and Finn Balor walks up. They go for a “too sweet” with Balor, but he walks away.


WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: The Miz (w/Maryse) (c) vs. Apollo Crews
Miz takes Crews to the corner and chokes him over the middle rope. Miz kicks Crews in the face and goes for a cover, but Crews kicks out at one. Miz takes Crews down again and goes for another kick, but Crews ducks it. Miz keeps advantage and applies a front face-lock down on the mat. Miz goes up top and jumps off, but Crews counters with a big boot and both men are down. Crews connects with a series of right hands and then drops Miz with a couple clotheslines. Crews splashes Miz in the corner and takes him down with a cross-body. Crews takes Miz down with a slam and goes for the cover, but Miz kicks out at two. Crews goes for the sit-out powerbomb, but Miz coutners and goes for the Skull Crushing Finale. Crews counters and takes Miz down and goes for the standing moonsault, but Miz gets his knees up. Crews comes right back and slams Miz to the mat and goes for the cover, but Miz kicks out at two. Crews picks Miz up, but Miz sends him to the corner. Miz goes for the corner clothesline, but Crews catches him and delivers a belly-to-belly suplex. Crews connects with the standing moonsault and goes for the cover, but Miz kicks out at two. Miz gets to the ropes and kicks Crews in the knee. Miz goes after Crews, but Crews cuts him off and dumps him to the outside. Miz goes to leave, but Crews cuts him off and tosses him back into the ring. Maryse distracts Crews and Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Crews fights out of it. Miz shoves Crews into the corner and Crews hits the ring post. Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale and gets the pin fall.

After the match, we see match highlights and Miz and Maryse celebrate his win.

We see an ad for WWE 2K17 and then see the video hype package for the feud between John Cena and AJ Styles.


John Cena vs. AJ Styles
They tie up and neither man can get the advantage. Styles goes behind Cena with a waist-lock, but Cena gets free and a stalemate ensues. They tie up again and neither man can get the advantage and Styles yells at Cena from across the ring when they break apart. Cena applies a side-headlock and Styles sends him off the ropes. Cena ducks under Styles, but Styles comes back with a dropkick. Styles gloats on the ropes, but Cena gets to his feet and drops Styles with a right hand. Cena sends Styles into the turnbuckle and Styles crumbles to the mat. Cena slams Styles into the opposite corner and Styles goes to the mat again. Cena delivers a right hand in the corner, follows by another that sends Styles down to the mat. Both men get on the apron and Styles drops Cena back-first onto the apron. Styles rolls Cena back into the ring and delivers a right hand against the ropes. Styles comes off the ropes again, but Cena launches Styles with a back-body drop. Cena goes for the cover, but Styles kicks out. Cena applies a headlock down on the mat and then sends Styles off the ropes and delivers a dropkick. Cena goes for the cover, but Styles kicks out at two. Cena delivers a snap suplex, but Styles comes back and sends Cena to the corner. Styles charges, but Cena moves and drops Styles with a side slam. Cena delivers the Five-Knuckle Shuffle and waits for Styles to get up. Cena goes for the AA, but Styles lands on his feet. Styles delivers the Pele Kick and goes for the Styles’ Clash. He connects with it and goes for the cover, but Cena kicks out at two. Cena and Styles get on the ropes and Styles slams Cena down to the mat. Cena comes back and catapults Styles into the corner. Cena slams Styles down to the mat and goes for the cover, but Styles kicks out at two. Cena waits for Styles to get up and goes for the AA, but Styles rolls through. Cena goes for the STF, but Styles counters and hits Cena with the AA. Styles goes for the cover, but Cena kicks out. Styles keeps on the attack and goes to the apron. Styles springboards into the ring with a 450 splash, but Cena moves out of the way. Cena goes for a quick pin on Styles, but Styles kicks out at two and both men are down. Styles takes Cena down again, but Cena kicks out of another pin attempt. Styles springboards into the ring again, but Cena catches him and locks in the STF. Styles counters and locks in the crossface. Cena stands up with Styles on his shoulders and goes for the AA, but Styles fights out. Styles rolls through and locks in the Calf Crusher. Cena rolls through and locks in the STF again. Styles counters into a pin, but Cena kicks out. Styles connects with an enzuiguri and Cena goes to the corner. Cena catches Styles with an elbow and then delivers a tornado DDT. Cena goes for the cover, but Styles kicks out at two. Cena connects with the top rope leg drop from the top rope and goes for the cover, but Styles kicks out at two. Cena grabs Styles and puts him on the top turnbuckle. Cena goes for an AA from the top, but Styles counters with elbows. Styles takes Cena down with a Frankensteiner and then the Phenomenal Forearm and goes for the cover, but Cena kicks out at two. Styles grabs Cena, but Cena counters and lifts Styles up. Styles elbows Cena in the head and takes out his knee. Styles comes off the ropes, but Cena drops him with a clothesline. Cena lifts Styles up and climbs the ropes. Styles elbows, but Cena connects with the AA from the top and goes for the cover, but Styles kicks out at two. Cena looks on as Styles pulls himself to his feet. Cena lifts Styles again and goes for the AA again, but Styles counters into the Styles’ Clash. Styles rolls to the apron and connects with the Phenomenal Forearm and gets the pin fall.
Winner: AJ Styles.
After the match, Cena takes off one of his armbands and leaves it in the middle of the ring.

We see a WWE Network commercial and then some sort of video of two people who won a contest for SummerSlam.

Jon Stewart makes his way to the ring. He cuts a promo that is met with “What?” chants. He says New Day has asked him to be here tonight. He says he is going to be an honorary member of The New Day tonight and leads the crowd in Big E’s usual opening.


WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods (w/Jon Stewart) (c) vs. Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows
Anderson and Kingston start the match. Anderson takes Kingston down with a side-headlock takedown. Kingston fights to his feet, but Anderson drops him with a shoulder block. Anderson runs the ropes, but Kingston takes him down with a flying elbow. Kingston decks Anderson with a right hand and takes him to the corner, but Anderson counters and delivers a few right hands in the corner. Anderson monkey flips Kingston out of the corner, but Kingston lands on his feet. Kingston stomps down onto Anderson and goes for the cover, but Anderson kicks out at two. Woods tags in and he and Kingston double-team Anderson for a few seconds. Anderson comes back and backs Woods into the corner and Gallows tags in. Gallows sends Woods off the ropes, but Woods takes Gallows’ knee out and takes him to the corner. Woods and Kingston exchange frequent tags and stomp away on Gallows in the corner. Woods dropkicks Gallows to the floor and Kingston launches over the top rope and takes Gallows out. Kingston tosses Gallows back into the ring, but Anderson distracts Kingston. Gallows attacks Kingston and stomps away on him down on the mat. Gallows tags in Anderson, who slams Kingston into the corner. Anderson kicks Kingston in the back of the head and goes for the cover, but Kingston kicks out. Gallows tags back in and shoves Kingston into the corner. Gallows connects with a big uppercut and goes for a splash, but Kingston moves out of the way. Anderson and Woods tag in and Woods takes Anderson down with a few clotheslines. Woods decks Anderson with a right hand and then dropkicks Anderson. Woods goes for the cover, but Anderson kicks out at two. Woods goes for a kick to the face, but Anderson ducks under. Anderson goes on the attack, but Woods counters with an enzuiguri and goes up top. Woods springboards with an elbow drop and goes for the cover, but Anderson kicks out at two. Woods kicks Anderson in the face and tags in Kingston. Kingston comes off the top and stomps on Anderson while Woods was holding him down. Kingston goes for the cover, but Gallows breaks it up. Kingston drives Gallows to the floor and Anderson kicks Kingston in the face. Anderson and Gallows hit the Magic Killer, but Stewart gets into the ring. He throws up “too sweet” and Woods attacks Gallows and Anderson. Anderson drops Woods with a spine-buster and then he and Gallows go after Stewart again. He tries to leave the ring, but they grab him and go to smash him against the ring post, but New Day’s music hits and Big E attacks Anderson and Gallows and the referee calls for the bell.
Winners via disqualification: Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.
After the match, Big E slams Anderson into the barricade and then drinks some of the liquid from the jars that Anderson and Gallows brought to ringside. Stewart and The New Day dance in the ring.

We see a promo for Holy Foley, which will premier tonight following SummerSlam.

We get a promo for WWE Backlash, which will be on Sunday, September 11th and will be a Smackdown-exclusive pay-per-view.

We see the video hype package for the feud between Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler.


WWE World Championship Match: Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler
Ziggler slaps Ambrose across the face and goes for a quick roll up, but Ambrose kicks out. Ziggler goes for a few more pin attempts, but Ambrose kicks out each time. Ziggler takes Ambrose down with a dropkick and Ambrose goes to the outside. Ziggler jumps onto Ambrose and takes him down with a swinging neck-breaker. Ziggler tosses Ambrose back into the ring, but Ambrose catches him and goes for Dirty Deeds. Ziggler stops it, but Ambrose tosses him out to the floor. Ambrose slams Ziggler into the steel steps and delivers a hard right hand. Ambrose tosses Ziggler back into the ring and takes him to the corner. Ambrose delivers a few chops and then sets him up top. Ambrose goes up top as well and goes for a superplex, but Ziggler fights back. Ambrose keeps control and connects with the suplex and goes for the cover, but Ziggler kicks out at two. Ambrose delivers a scoop slam and goes for another cover, but Ziggler kicks out again. Ambrose stomps on Ziggler’s midsection and then locks in a half Boston Crab submission. Ziggler fights out and rolls up Ambrose, but Ambrose kicks out at two. Ambrose takes Ziggler down with a snap suplex and goes for the cover, but Ziggler kicks out. Ambrose goes up top and jumps, but Ziggler counters with a dropkick. Ziggler goes for the superkick, but Ambrose counters and slams Ziggler down to the mat with a face-buster. Ambrose goes for the cover, but Ziggler kicks out at two. Ambrose mocks a superkick, but goes for Dirty Deeds. Ziggler gets free and sends Ambrose to the floor. Ambrose gets back into the ring, but Ziggler plants him with a DDT. Ziggler goes for the cover, but Ambrose kicks out at two. They slug it out and Ziggler takes out Ambrose’s knee. Ziggler goes for the fame-asser, but Ambrose counters. Ziggler sends Ambrose shoulder-first into the ring post. Ziggler connects with the fame-asser now and goes for the cover, but Ambrose kicks out at two. Ziggler delivers a series of rights and lefts and both men collide with cross-bodies in the middle of the ring. Ambrose delivers punches and chops and then takes Ziggler down with some clotheslines. Ambrose charges in the corner and takes Ziggler down with a running bulldog. Ambrose goes up top and delivers an elbow. Ambrose goes for the cover, but Ziggler kicks out at two. Ambrose mocks Ziggler, but Ziggler jumps on Ambrose and applies the sleeper hold. Ambrose charges the ropes and both men fall to the floor. Ziggler delivers a superkick to Ambrose on the outside and then tosses Ambrose back into the ring. Ziggler goes for the cover, but Ambrose kicks out at two. Ambrose gets free and gets to his feet, and then delivers the running lariat to Ziggler. Ambrose goes up top, but Ziggler cuts him off. Ziggler goes up top for a superplex, but Ambrose counters and sends Ziggler back down to the mat. Ziggler rushes back up after Ambrose and both men go to the mat. Ambrose grabs Ziggler and delivers Dirty Deeds and gets the pin fall.

Six-Woman Tag Team Match: Becky Lynch, Carmella, and Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss, Natalya, and Nikki Bella
Alexa and Becky start the match. Alexa goes for a quick roll up, but Becky kicks out. Alexa catches Becky with a kick to the midsection and then sends Becky to the corner. Alexa decks Becky with a right hand and goes for the cover, but Becky kicks out. Becky applies a front face-lock and tags in Naomi. Alexa backs away and tags in Natalya. They tie up and Naomi flips over Natalya and goes for the cover, but Natalya kicks out at two. Naomi grabs Natalya and delivers a dropkick, but Natalya comes back with drops Naomi to the mat. Naomi turns the tide back in her favor and delivers a leg drop. Naomi goes for the cover, but Natalya kicks out. Carmella tags in and Natalya takes her to the corner and delivers some knee shots. Natalya charges at Carmella, but Carmella moves and taunts Natalya. Carmella takes Natayla down with a head-scissors and Natalya rolls to the outside. Carmella clotheslines her on the floor and then tosses her back into the ring. Carmella kicks Natalya in th eface in the corner and then kicks Alexa as well. Natalya takes advantage and slams Carmella down to the mat. Natalya goes for the cover, but Carmella kicks out at two. Nikki tags in and suplexes Carmella. Nikki goes for the cover, but Carmella kicks out at two. Nikki applies a submission and then takes Carmella down with a suplex. Nikki goes for the cover, but Carmella kicks out. Alexa tags in and drives her knees into Carmella and then connects with the back-handspring knee drop. Natalya tags in and applies a submission to Carmella. Carmella elbows her way out and takes Natalya down to the mat. Carmella goes for the cover, but Natalya catches her and takes her to the corner. Carmella knocks Nikki and Alexa off the apron and tries for the tag again, but Natalya catches her. Carmella makes it to Becky, who clotheslines Natalya down to the mat. Becky connects with the Beck-sloder to Natalya and Alexa and then slings Nikki into Alexa and Natalya. Becky springboards Nikki, Alexa, and Natalya and then delivers a forearm to Natalya. Becky takes Natalya down with another Beck-sploder, but Alexa gets in the ring. Becky sends her to the outside and Natalya rolls up Becky, but Becky kicks out at two. Becky takes Natalya down again and goes up top and connects with a leg drop. She goes for the cover, but Nikki breaks it up. Natalya tags in Alexa, who slams Becky face-first into the mat. Naomi tags in and cross-bodies onto Alexa. Naomi kicks Alexa in the face and then delivers a big roundhouse to the back of the head. Noami goes for a moonsault, but Alexa moves and tags in Nikki. Naomi flips free from Nikki and tags in Carmella. Carmella drops Nikki with a superkick and then connects with a Bronco Buster. Carmella goes for the cover, but Natalya and Alexa break it up. Alexa and Natalya send Naomi into the ring post and Carmella drops Natalya and Alexa with a double dropkick. Nikki decks Carmella and delivers the TKO and gets the pin fall.
Winners: Nikki Bella, Alexa Bliss, and Natalya.

We see the video promo for Raw’s next pay-per-view, Clash of Champions, which is on Sunday, September 25th.

We take a look back at the feud between Roman Reigns and Rusev. We then see Maria Menounos backstage, who is interviewing Rusev and Lana. Rusev rants about Roman Reigns and says everything that happened is his fault and the fault of the “stupid American people.” Lana says Roman humiliated her, but she and Rusev will not stand for it. Rusev says he is the greatest and he will crush Reigns into dust.


We then see the video hype package for the feud between Finn Balor and Seth Rollins.

We see the WWE Universal Championship sitting in the ring. It’s a carbon-copy of the WWE World Championship, except with a lot of red.


Singles Match to crown the inaugural WWE Universal Champion: Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins
Balor dropkicks Rollins into the corner and then goes up top for the Cout de Gras, but Rollins rolls to the outside. Balor goes after him and takes him down on the outside. Balor tosses Rollins back into the ring and works over Rollins’ knee. Balor kicks Rollins in the knee and then jumps down onto it. Rollins rolls to the outside and trips up Balor on the apron. Rollins grabs Balor and delivers a suplex on the floor. Rollins tosses Balor into the timekeeper’s area, but Balor comes back with a forearm from the barricade. Balor tosses Rollins back into the ring and continues to work over Rollins’ knee. Balor stomps down on the back of Rollins’ legs, but then Rollins kicks him into the corner. Rollins takes Balor to the outside and power bombs him into the barricade. Rollins tosses Balor back into the ring and goes for the cover, but Balor kicks out at two. Rollins takes Balor to the corner and kicks him down to the mat. Rollins chokes Balor with his boot and then pulls him up. Rollins delivers a back-breaker and goes for the cover, but Balor kicks out at two. Rollins applies a headlock down on the mat. Rollins slams Balor in the corner and goes for the cover, but Balor kicks out at two. Rollins kicks Balor in the face, but Balor fights back with a few chops. Rollins keeps control and takes Balor down and delivers some cross-face shots. Rollins applies a sleeper hold and takes Balor down to the mat. Rollins smacks Balor a few times, but Balor fights back with some right hands. Rollins whips Balor into the corner and connects with a forearm. Rollins springboards into the ring and connects with a knee strike. Rollins goes up top and connects with the frog splash and goes for the cover, but Balor kicks out at two. Rollins grabs Balor and drops him with a short clothesline. Rollins smacks Balor in the face a few times, but Balor comes back and plants Rollins with a DDT. Balor double kicks Rollins in the face and then drops Rollins with a few clotheslines. Balor takes Rollins down with a forearm shot and then delivers a chop in the corner. Balor whips Rollins into the opposite corner and delivers another chop. Balor does it a third time and then delivers a dropkick that sends Balor to the floor. Balor knees Rollins in the face and Rollins falls to the floor. Balor tosses Rollins back into the ring and goes for a clothesline, but Rollins ducks under. Balor drops Rollins with a swingblade, but Rollins comes right back and takes Balor down. Rollins goes for a Pedigree, but Balor counters and drops Rollins with a kick to the head and both men are down. Balor picks Rollins up and slams him down to the mat with the 1916 and goes for the cover, but Rollins kicks out at two. Balor goes up top for the Cout de Gras, but Rollins moves and locks in the triangle submission. Balor gets to the ropes, but apparently there is no disqualification because the ref does not call for the break. Rollins tosses Balor back into the ring, but Balor counters with some kicks to Rollins’ leg. Rollins catches Balor and power bombs him in the corner. Rollins kicks Balor in the face and goes for the cover, but Balor kicks out at two. Rollins delivers a series of right hands, but Balor blocks the last one and connects with a kick to Rollins. Balor comes off the ropes, but Rollins connects with a knee strike and then takes Balor down with a small package driver and goes for the cover, but Balor kicks out at two. Rollins goes up top, but Balor catches him with an enzuiguri that sends Rollins to the floor. Balor rushes around the ring and dropkicks Rollins into the barricade. Balor tosses Rollins back into the ring and stomps down onto Rollins’ neck. Balor goes for the cover, but Rollins kicks out at two. Balor goes back up top and goes for the Cout de Gras, but Rollins moves again. Rollins plans Balor with the Pedigree and goes for the cover, but Balor kicks out at two. Rollins goes up top and goes for a corkscrew, but Balor moves. Balor dropkicks Rollins into the turnbucke, but Rollins catches him. Rollins superplexes Balor, but Balor rolls through. Balor stomps on Rollins and then dropkicks him into the corner. Balor delivers another dropkick and goes up top. Balor connects with the Cout de Gras and gets the pin fall.

After the match, we see match highlights and then Finn Balor celebrates his title win with his family at ringside.

We go back to the Preshow panel of Renee Young, Booker T, Lita, and Jerry Lawler. They talk about the show so far. Lawler says he called Sasha losing earlier and Lita says the match we just saw was incredible. Booker talks about Styles beating Cena straight up tonight. We take a look at some KFC commercial with Dolph Ziggler and The Miz.


WWE United States Championship Match: Rusev (w/Lana) (c) vs. Roman Reigns
Rusev attacks Reigns before the bell and they brawl on the outside. Rusev slams Reigns into the steel steps on both sides of the ring. Rusev beats Reigns down on the outside and then nails Reigns with the steel steps. Reigns comes back and tosses Rusev into the timekeeper’s area. Reigns delivers the Superman Punch and beats down Rusev on the floor. Rusev swings a chair, but Reigns blocks it and delivers some headbutts. Reigns tosses Rusev back to the floor and grabs the chair. Reigns nails Rusev with the chair a few times and then beats him down some more. Reigns delivers headbutts and more punches and the referees finally pull Reigns back.
Match Result: No Contest.
Reigns comes back and Spears Rusev to leave him lying on the floor.

We see the video hype package for the feud between Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar.


Brock Lesnar (w/Paul Heyman) vs. Randy Orton
Lesnar takes Orton to the corner and drives his shoulder into Orton’s midsection. Lesnar goes for a suplex, but Orton elbow his way out. Orton takes Lesnar down with a dropkick and goes for the RKO, but Lesnar shoves Orton away. Lesnar grabs Orton and delivers a German suplex. Lesnar delivers another suplex. Lesnar delivers a third clothesline and drops Orton in the corner. Lesnar delivers a fourth suplex and then a fifth. Lesnar drives his knees into Orton in the corner and then delivers suplex number six. Orton rolls to the outside an Lesnar stalks him. Orton tries to fight back, but Lesnar slams him down onto the announce table. Orton falls into the crowd and Lesnar drags him back into the ringside area and through the announce table. Lesnar tosses Orton back into the ring. Lesnar delivers suplex number seven and both men go back to the outside. Lesnar destroys another announce table. Lesnar grabs Orton, but Orton hits an RKO out of nowhere on the announce table. Back in the ring, Orton drops Lesnar with the middle rope DDT. Orton drops Lesnar with an RKO and goes for the pin, but Lesnar kicks out at two. Orton backs away into the corner and goes for the Punt, but Lesnar catches him and hits the F-5. Lesnar goes for the cover, but Orton kicks out at two. Lesnar takes off his gloves and beats down Orton with rights and lefts and elbows in the ring. Orton is busted open big time and the referee calls the trainer into the ring. Lesnar beats down Orton some more and the referee tells him to stop and backs up as the crowd chants “Goldberg.” Lesnar beats down Orton more and the bell rings.
Winner via technical knockout: Brock Lesnar.
After the match, Lesnar beats down Orton some more and Shane McMahon gets into the ring. He stand face-to-face with Lesnar and Lesnar drops him with an F-5. Heyman tells Lesnar to stop and Lesnar leaves the ring as SummerSlam comes to a close.
