– In November 2008, Otunga signed a WWE development deal and was assigned to FCW
– On May 29, 2009, Dawson Alexander (Otunga), Barry Allen & Jon Cutler defeated Abraham Saddam Washington, Derrick Bateman & Tonga (Otunga’s in-ring debut)
– On July 2, 2009, Dawson Alexander competed in the FCW Grand Royale Match, won by Johnny Curtis
– On February 16, 2010, Otunga was announced as a competitor on the first season of NXT, with R-Truth as his mentor
