Biography
– Gagne debuted for his father’s AWA promotion in the late 1960s
– In 1973, Gagne travelled to Japan to work a tour for the IWE promotion
– In mid-1974, Gagne formed a tag team with Jim Brunzell, known as ‘The High Flyers’
– On July 7, 1977, The High Flyers defeated Blackjack Lanza & Bobby Duncum for the AWA Tag Team Titles in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
– On July 28, 1978, The High Flyers defeated Nick Bockwinkel & Bob Orton Jr in a Texas Death Match to retain the AWA Tag Team Titles
– Brunzell picked up an injury outside the ring in September 1978 and The High Flyers were forced to vacate the AWA Tag Team Titles, which were awarded to The Blond Bombers (Pat Patterson & Ray Stevens)
– On June 14, 1981, The High Flyers defeated The East-West Connection (Jesse Ventura & Adrian Adonis) to regain the AWA Tag Team Titles
– The High Flyers competed on an All Japan tour in the summer of 1982, including an AWA Tag Team Title defense against the team of Ricky Steamboat & Atsushi Onita
– After a two year run, The High Flyers dropped the AWA Tag Team Titles to Jerry Blackwell & Ken Patera in June 1983.
– The High Flyers competed in the 1984 PWF World Tag Team Title League for All Japan. The team separated around a year thereafter, with Gagne moving into singles competition and Brunzell jumping to the WWF
– Gagne, Scott Hall and Curt Hennig defeated Ray Stevens, Nick Bockwinkel and Larry Zbysko at AWA SuperClash on September 28, 1985
– On December 27, 1987, Gagne defeated Adrian Adonis in the final of a tournament to become the first AWA International Television Champion
– On February 20, 1988, Gagne defeated Brian Knobbs by DQ to retain the AWA International Television Title
– Gagne lost the AWA International Television Title on September 17, 1988, but the title was held up due to Ron Garvin using an illegal object to win the match
– At AWA SuperClash III, Gagne defeated Ron Garvin to regain the AWA International Television Title
– On July 8, 1989, Gagne defeated Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie by DQ to retain the AWA International Television Title
– Following the AWA’s inevitable demise in 1991, Gagne worked for WCW as a road agent
– After his WCW contract ended, Gagne left the wrestling business and worked for a Mitsubishi car dealership in Minnesota
– In April 2006, Gagne was hired by WWE as a road agent, shortly after inducting his father Verne into their Hall of Fame
– Gagne was moved to WWE’s training facility at OVW in the summer of 2006
– Gagne was let go by WWE in September of 2006
